Keepin' it real fake, part LXV: iPhone clones still rollin' in
You may think that all the iPhone clones from around the world (okay, China) would vanish shortly after Apple released the real deal, but hey, there's no rest for the wicked. Sure enough, I-Fighting's FT4021 "portable media player" looks at least 85-percent like the actual iPhone, which is good enough in our book to rip it as a knockoff. If you actually care about the specs, you'll find a 2.8-inch touchscreen, built-in media player, dual headphone jacks, an integrated speaker, miniSD slot, photo viewer, an FM tuner, and USB 2.0 connectivity. Per usual, there's no mention of a price, but the embarrassment factor alone that comes bundled with this thing would rule it out for most folks.

When Jobs annouced the iPhone at Macworld he said that Yahoo woud give iPhoners free push mail, but now i hear you have to pay $3 a month, what happened?

You heard wrong. There's no charge for Yahoo! push mail on the iPhone.

The DigitalRise D718i is now a phone as well (GSM) supposedly has a touch screen as well... http://www.chinagrabber.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=174

FM Tuner, expansion slot (even if it is miniSD), games, headphones jacks straight on the body of it, 2 no less... this thing does plenty of things the iPhone doesn't do. No phone of course, but you gotta hand it to the Chinese for packing features into these things.
And come on, Engadget, just an 85% copy? Those buttons at the bottom surely don't account for 15% of the unit...
Leonard Nimrod @ Jul 4th 2007 9:07AM
How about the different dimensions, the smaller screen, with worse resolution, the non-identical iPhone Home page that we've seen in other knock-offs and the non-flush display?
Natedog @ Jul 4th 2007 9:22AM
Ooh, ouch. You made me look like an idiot. Good job, I could never compete with your wit and powers of observation.
KC @ Jul 4th 2007 8:42AM
Looks identical to the ONDA Honey VX858
strider_mt2k @ Jul 4th 2007 9:10AM
Just wait now that they can spend some quality time with a real one!
I look forward to seeing the results then!
JC @ Jul 4th 2007 9:12AM
Give up, everybody, the Mac fanboys have won. From now on, they get to scream "iPhone copy!!!!1!!1!!!" any rectangular device with a touchscreen that takes up most of the device and icon based navigation. And then go back to whackin' it to pictures of Stevie Jobs.
Adam @ Jul 4th 2007 10:07AM
This is blantently copying the iPhone. If you can't see that, you're a douche bag.
JC @ Jul 4th 2007 10:17AM
And the iPhone looks a lot like LG's Prada phone. You can only get so "original" before you start looking like other devices on the market. Mac fanboys just seem to be so damn vocal about it. Douche? Takes one to know one.
Trace The Hedgehog @ Jul 4th 2007 4:50PM
Not anymore, you just admited you're a Douche.
JC @ Jul 4th 2007 10:20AM
While we're on similarities, the iPhone looks a lot like Dell's Axim x51. Mostly black body, silver side bezel, touchscreen. Get the picture?
Magallanes @ Jul 5th 2007 11:55AM
I owned a x51v and yes iphone looks the same.. but the "Awesome resolution of the iphone" look a crap in comparison with the VGA resolution (480x640) of the Axim.
Neeko @ Jul 4th 2007 11:54AM
OK clue me in. I dont get why these similiar devices are a bad thing. Why would anyone complain. If i can buy a device that has the iphone size and looks FOR HALF THE EFFIN PRICE THEN DAMN RIGHT I WILL. The only reasons iam not getting one now is ATT DATA service sux IMO. (i have sprint BTW) And iam no LEMMING. iam not gonna pay 600 for a phone. THATS CRAZY TALK. I wanna see more media players that have the same looks and features if not better. the CECT T718 is looking better and better everyday. I just cant find a credible place to buy it from. HATE AWAY FANBOYS.
Ratchet the Lombax @ Jul 4th 2007 4:00PM
I agree if the thing does the pretty much the same thing as the iPhone for 1/2 or 2/3 the price what's the so bad about that? I just shows that the iPhone is overpriced, (an apple product overpriced, never). Now I love the iPod between us my family has almost every version except the 2nd gen shuffle. But to charge $600 for a phone is crazy, add to that the fact that it only has at most 8gb of storage no thanks. 8gb won't even store 1/10 of my music collection, if they came out with a 30gb then maybe I would spend the money. As far as being embarrassed to carry the thing, heck I wouldn't care what the heck someone had to say. If they came up to me laughing I would just tell them "well mine does pretty much the same as your iPhone but cost me about half the price, so who's embarrassed now?"
Jman196 @ Jul 4th 2007 12:19PM
I agree with Neeko, and I also think that people don't give a damn about the actual product itself, instead they just want people to know, ohhh I have an iphone look at me. This is especially true with the iphone signature "sent from my iphone", I couldn't give a flying fuk what phone you sent it from. All it is is self advertising, thats why so many people "need" an iphone, it's the next razr, it the ifad if you ask me.
Camperton @ Jul 4th 2007 11:56PM
Blackberry's have a signature too. It can be removed as can the iphone one.
wetworker @ Jul 4th 2007 2:16PM
it looks like teh lg prada
Chuckles McGee @ Jul 4th 2007 3:13PM
"You wan iPhone? Is better than iPhone! Is aPhone! Get a Phone! Very good!" -say with heavy Russian/Borat accent
