How to revive sales in your flagging video game console

Let this be a lesson to anyone in the audience planning the usual Tuesday multi-billion dollar video game console launch: dropping the price by a healthy chunk (like, say, $100) does very good things for sales of systems like the PS3 on sites like Amazon.

well, when your not selling any consoles, i guess selling a few will pop up the percentage points pretty quickly. just because a couple of people jumped on the price break, means nothing. its still $500 which is still way to much considering the other options out there for gaming.

-360/elite - $300(core)-$600(bundles)
-wii - $400
-ps3 - $500

what other options? PC? please.. i could spend 4x the cost of a ps3 on a gaming PC easily. last-gen? not for me, thanks.. already have 2 ps2s & an xbox.. in a closet.

the core 360 is weak sauce. i wouldn't buy it. it's 300. the elite is 550. the wii is 400. the ps3 is 500.

i think somthing people are overlooking here is that sony are actually fighting two main battles right now the first being PS3 and the second being blu-ray, as sony own the rights to blu-ray, so the more people who own a PS3 the more people there are to buy blu-ray movies, and plus turn a profit in another arena of battle, so its quite possible they are going to be selling the PS3 at a lose.
