Iriver's Clix bumped to 8GB in S.Korea
While the rest of the world struggles to get by with their 2GB or 4GB gen 2 Clix, those lucky S.Koreans will see an 8GB unit drop tomorrow. No word on pricing, just the simple full-page, minimalistic tease we've grown accustomed to from iriver "announcements." Fortunately for us, this update (unlike so much of their gear) will likely make its way westward in due time.

South Koreans always get a lot of this insane stuff. I love the growth of technology that is happening though, very exciting and fun.

It's taken long enough.
Apparently iRiverAmerica has no idea when the 8GB Clix2 will be out in the US, then again they couldn't find their own arses with both hands and a flashlight.
The iRiver Store (http://www.theiriverstore.com/) which gets it's stock directly from iRiver in Korea is expecting to have the 8GB Clix2 in August (after Jeff gets back from his holiday).

That's what I've seen as well. My birthday's coming up before the end of the month, so I wanted to see when it will be out in the U.S. I saw it's going to be on the store you linked to, but I emailed iriveramerica about it and got this response back:
"We have no information on a larger capacity iriver clix at this time. Please watch our web site for any future details."

If you posted the same message on MR, then that's where I picked it up.
But, like I say, it's well known that iRiverAmerica are clueless.

Asians having superior technology than the rest of us? No way.

HyperHecker, why not?
Anyway, I think this baby is gonna have large screen like the Teac and the iPhone.. that's why they aren't showing in the pic above, to generate groundless speculation such as mine :)

254,000 Won is $276/£136/€201.

No size difference in the screen. A new UI, 8gb and the red stripe is whats different. :)
Iain @ Jul 20th 2007 7:13PM
Well, to be fair, the 4GB model can be had with a red stripe too.

Also it looks like video is 30fps (15 fps on 2 & 4GB existing models). At least that's what the Korean site says, highlighted in red text.
Matt @ Jul 20th 2007 12:07AM
The Clix 2nd Gen was always 30fps, the 1st wasn't however.

hey... I was just wondering... I'm going to go to Korea in this month and I was wondering if I could buy the iRiver Clix 8 GB there, and use it here? Will it be any different if I bought it from Korea or from America? Thanks!
