TEAC's MP-600 3.5-inch touchscreen DAP is thinner than your iPod
Granted, everyone expects the next gen iPod to mimic the iPhone's device-wide, touch-interface design metaphor, right? However, there's no guarantee it's coming 'till Jobsie-boy sings. No worries, TEAC's 3.5-inch touch-screen toting MP-600 is available now for €169 / $230. For that price, you get 4GB of flash storage, MP3/WMA/DRM9 and JPG/AVI playback, FM tuner with recording function, built-in speaker, and up to 10-hours of audio (5.5-hours video) off battery. Better yet, the little 73 x 43 x 9-mm player is thinner than the current disk-based iPods (at the expense of capacity) yet can still be expanded via SD/MMC memory cards. Shaaaweet.

From the screenshot it looks to be a NON-library based player. Browsing for your files in directories is soooo outdated and CHEAP.
Don't even try to compare it to an ipod.
yeah dont you dare compare something which has more functionality for a lower price to the ipod!
the productpage says not a single word about 'touchscreen'! and since i have a very similar device (ordered in china), wich has exact the same interface and sidebutttons, i know this must be a misunderstanding. Sure you can touch the screen, but nothing will happen...
The directory based file system is really outdated and not user friendly at all.
Outdated maybe but ugly! this thing looks so ugly!
If this takes SDHC, I'm sold.
this is so awesome. i saw something like this on www.julib.com
anyone ever heard of that site? what's the scoop?
Some people like directory-based. Those who are used to it and are used to organizing their music in a very particular manner get really annoyed by tag databases. It's also less software dependent. Some players have both, which is ideal.
There were touchscreen mp3 players before the iPhone - Cowon D2, m:robe.
Nice looking device. I wish they hadn't splashed "Teac" across the front, but whatever. In any case, 230 with expandable memory via cheap SD = good.
The specs say that it supports Mac OS but have no mention of Windows. Hopefully that's an unintended omission...
Hello .....
Bluetooth, WiFi?
Neat. I like the large screen. I don't need a touch screen for a music/video player. Though I won't mind the iPhone either if its cheaper.
I'd like a cheaper option, a hard-disk based player with a large screen. But that said, the expandable memory slot is very welcome :)
