Wii's Guitar Hero III Les Paul unearthed
As the axe battle continues to heat up, here we have a first look at the Guitar Hero III controller for the Wii, which looks an awful lot like the first Les Paul-modeled iteration we saw -- save for that handy Wiimote slot and Nintendo-esque toggle switch, of course. Reportedly, the white faceplate is also removable, but we know the most of you won't want to disturb the color mojo that will be going on between your Wii and Gibson. Click on for an enlarged view.

wow are you serious
Serious about what: Guitar Hero for Wii, or a controller for Guitar Hero?
controll for wii
Wow, best looking GH guitar yet.
Though I do prefer the SG as far as real guitars go.

OH I GUESS IT WILL USE WAGGLE!!
HAHAHA I hope the wii goes under.
Get a PS3.
Why? So if the Wii actually does go under the Ps3 has company?
Maybe you should play the wii and yo would quickly realize that it is not goin under anytime soon.
Games are not only about graphics, they are about having fun. The wii is all about having a good time with friends.
That's the problem, isn't it? It's about having fun with friends. That must be why this guy hates it so much
Another potential Wii WMD
That's what she said...
The Wii is outselling the PS3 by a large margin last I heard (6-1?)
You'd think that developers would look at producing a heck of a lot more for it knowing they have larger potential profits.
I assume that you're not meant to shove the wiimote in through the front. Seriously, though - where do you put it in?
I would guess a battery door like cover in the back.
I can't wait, the wii finally has a sick line up coming.
I like to imagine star power activated actually being some crazy, Marty-McFly-playing-Johnny-B-Goode-in-the-50s, movements
How does the remote fit in there? Just putting it into that slot doesn't seem like it would work, because that alone wouldn't attach the extension slot to the guitar.
yes! Ive been waiting to play this game! i am definitly buying it for the wii!
btw, under that big shiny black exterior of a ps3 lies a lonely console...wanting to play :) i know someone who has one and he doesn't even play it.
the wii is the best next to the xbox360. ps3 definitly has potential, but until they get better games AND knock down that ridiculous price tag (which they supposedly have), it won't happen anytime soon. hopefully E3 will give SONY hope.
But they did cut the cost? Amazon sells 60GB at 500$..
Anyway, this is so awesomeeeee. Can't wait to get this and Super smash when released :)
michal G: thats cool they cut the cost...now lets see the games they have to offer LOL.
btw,i cant wait for smash bros. either.
I'm with ccox, how long until this is embedded in a 60" DLP?
I'd rather have a Stratocaster.
Are you kidding? The Strat body is one of the most copied designs ever, so it ends up looking too generic for my taste.
The Les Paul design, however, is unique and distinctive, in my opinion.
The only guitar I'd rather have the new controller based upon would be the Explorer (again) or something like a BC Rich Warlock, but that's not gonna happen.
Great idea using the wiimote. Even if it doesn't use motion sensing, wouldn't it make the guitar cheaper? Considering it doesn't need to have any of the hardware for wireless, it would just mooch off the wiimote.
Eh, they'll probably price it the same anyway...
I demand more Dethklok!
At the risk of being ranked the lowest I'd say the following. Why don't you guys consider learning how to play a real guitar. It's more fun and fulfilling. Plus, girls dig a guy who takes the time to learn the instrument, and vice-versa.
I feel silly playing with a toy knowing how to play a real guitar.
Again, to each its own. But, I think anyone would be better off with the real thing, in this case at least.
I heard this all the time from guitar playing friends, until they tried it.
I believe this is the perfect response to this now 2-year old argument http://www.cad-comic.com/comic.php?d=20070509
Because Guitar Hero costs less than a real guitar, requires less training, and is fun. Seriously, that's like asking why people don't take dance lessons instead of playing Dance Dance Revolution, or why people play Donkey Konga or Taiko Drum Master instead of getting a drumset and learning real drums.
Besides, it's not intended to be a substitute for a real guitar. If it were, it would be much more similar to a real guitar than it is.

To Brokenkeyboard, that cartoon is hilarious. I can play along. I guess I'm not the first to have made that suggestion.
The good thing is that we are free to do whatever we want with our time and money.
So, if Guitar Hero fits you, then you're set.
Peace.
Telling people who like to play Guitar Hero that they should learn to play guitar instead is like telling people who like to play Half-Life or Halo that should buy a bunch of guns and kill as many people as they can instead.
It's a game. Get over it.
Johnzilla, see I knew I was going to get that type of feedback and comparisons. That's why I started my post "At the risk of being ranked lowest ..." Somehow people like to jump from one extreme to the other.
I know it's a game. A game that is just as silly as people taking other's comments too seriously. I never take my, or other peoples', comments too seriously. I may disagree with some, but that's it. I'm not going to get all bent out of shape about it. Life is too good and short to argue about nonsense like this. Read my second post and you'll see that I was only making a silly comment.
Peace.
MTigeV, I've tried it. I never said anything bad about the game itself. I played it a few times at Best Buy and found it entertaining.
Let's not take these comments too seriously. Again, I wasn't knocking the game or anyone who plays it. As I've said before "if Guitar Hero fits you, then you're set."
Peace.
Playing Guitar Hero at a friend's house inspired me to buy a real guitar. You can't dismiss this game because it is a great way to get people especially kids interesting in learning to play a real guitar.
How do you put the Wiimote in? And how do you get it out? Also, I think the neck of the guitar would be a better place for it.
It probably isn't in the neck because when the Wiimote is not in the guitar the neck would be very weak and could break easily. I'm guessing it goes in through the back and there just a window in the front.
Neat, I've only ever played it a few times myself, couldn't get the hang of it.
Though that whole removable faceplate thing makes me ponder some Zakk Wylde hypnotic action.
looks ace. i've got a wii myself, and i spent about 3 hours playing guitar hero II on my friend's 360 yesterday. i've been playing guitar for 7 years, and in no way would i ever say "durr, dude, learn to play real guitar", because that makes you an imperious tit...
i'm excited though.
I was hoping for a Gibson V :(
I"M A MUSICAN, BUT I HAVE TO GET ONE OF THESE WII GAMES THIS LOOKS LIKE REAL FUN!!!
