Samsung is also finally ready to loose its
94 series plasmas (and a 58-inch version of its 84 series) today, featuring 1080p displays, 15,000:1 contrast ratio, 3 CEC HDMI ports, Ultra FilterBright light diffusion, 18-bit color processing, ATSC / clear QAM tuners, and USB. The 94 series packs one extra special little thing: 802.11n WiFi for streaming up to 1080i video to the set (no mention of DLNA or any other standards, cross your fingers). The 50 and 58-inch 94 series will run you $3600 and $5300 fourth quarter this year; the new 58-inch 84-series will land for $4700 this September.

There are some "relatively" cheap Samsung Plasma TVs on Amazon:

It is amazing how fast display technology advances. It seems like not long ago at all that a TV like this would run over $10,000 easily.

Not only that, but the ones that were $10,000 back when were only like 1,000:1 contrast ratio, if that, and probably lower res.

I thought plasma technology was giving way to LCDs.
