Steorn's Orbo device exploded -- for dissection, not the apocalypse
With tail held firmly between legs, Steorn really had no choice but to take a less covert and cryptic approach to their public relations. Behold what shyster-Sean McCarthy calls a working device utilizing their Orbo "free infinite energy" technology (read: magnets). The exploded view below the photograph was cobbled together by Steorn forum members and is a best guess as to how the device "works" at this point in time. The stationary part -- the stator -- is colored green and blue and contains 8 magnets fitted into angled-slots around the central cavity. Within the cavity spins a rotor with an additional 4 magnets evenly distributed around the circumference. Between the two are those dastardly, watch-maker bearings which were to blame for the failed demonstration last week. So yeah, it certainly appears to be just another in a long series of magnetically driven perpetual motion machines debunked by the scientific community for centuries. Still, Steorn employees continue to assert the existence of their magical energy source; they just can't explain how it works or prove that it exists. You know at this point, their rabid self-deception and cult of believers investors are becoming just a tad creepy don't you think?

Jealous Rage.. people are jealous because someone other than they are getting a lot of attention for solving a big problem and making a meaningful contribution. Progress in science is said to be measured in funerals, most "scientists" that were skeptical of Einstein's theory stayed skeptical even after the proof was laid out for all to see with the eclipse experiment, they remained skeptical and continued to worship newton's model as the only true one until their death decades after.
So for all of you jealous people, now is the time to let out your steam and post your inane comments while Steorn is not getting results. Then when they do get results, you'll all be able to become a bit less arrogant and more humble - or convince yourself that what your ruler told you is true and that's its just all a trick. All this by being careful not to expose yourself to anything that relate to that technology...
Come on Bob. His device is a modified Minato wheel. Been there, done that. It doesn't work. He had the same problem with his last patent application. Already been done. The prior art is enormous. It ain't new.
I am a watchmaker, bearings are almost always one of two things, either synthetic rubies (jewels) or plain old steel on brass. Neither one of them "fail". Brass ones wear out after a few million rotations, but that's about it. Jewels can crack or chip if impacted, but that's about it as well. They can wear but only if they're running against another bearing surface that's fairly abrasive for a helluva long time.
Perpetual motion requires zero friction which cannot exist in any environment where gravity is a factor.
Obviously, Steorn is not proposing a mere perpetual motion machine where there's no friction, the purpose of the machine is to use it to generate energy, which obviously imply friction, otherwise it would completely useless.
The theory behind the machine has always had inventors think they have done the impossible. In there mind they think about how the magnet works and how the flux fields move from the south poles to the north poles of the magnets. And they think they can create a machine that harnesses the movement of the flux field. Based on that drawing obviously they believe that the angle of the magnet in the outer circle of the device will propel the internal magnet around and around. and in theory this actually does work there are a couple of problems with this design they don't understand and that’s even if the engineering of the device where so precise to not allow a zero point for the device to stop running because of the design of having the inter magnets flux field riding the flux field of the outer magnets. The interaction of the two flux fields weakens each other and eventually the device will stop running because the flux fields become so weak they are not interacting any more. The other issue is something nobody is thinking about and that’s that the magnet itself is not free energy it received it's flux field from somewhere and to be completely honest it takes approximately 25 times more energy just to make the magnet. So really a magnet is just a battery storing energy. And the device will be lucky to output 1% of the energy it took to make the magnet. They would have been better off not using magnets on the inner circle because the outside flux fields would have lasted longer. but even with that said a magnet will loose it's flux in time all on it's own maybe 100 years but it will eventually go back to being just a piece of metal. So perpetual motion I don't think so and Free Energy far from it. I'd hate to be one of there investors right about now.
i haven't followed this enough to be sure, but I do have a theroy. I think this is a bunch of less than educated geeks, who haven't done any real resaerch, that created a CAD model without proper physics or math. i.e. if you remove friction, power resistence etc. from the design, than it seems to work. However in reality it doesn't. little kids have great ideas all the time, but often they can't be implemented due to reality. if you hook four or five generators to a wheel shouldn't they produce more power than you need to spin the central wheel? NO! because each of those gen.s adds resistence. So I think these guys just made a computer model, and didn't ask why no one else had tried this, but hopefully that's not the case and someone will find a way to make this work.
Orbo seems very similar to Minato magnetic motor:

Orbo here might be in trouble: Minato's motor is already patented.
Friction is not a necessity to generate energy, hence solar panels.
What are you all talking about??!! this is not meant to be a perpetual motion machine! magnets ware out over time, its the same general concept as an electric motor but with normal magnets instead of electro magnets.
I see a lot of ego at work here. I'm not asking you to beleive in the tooth fairy, just hold yer yaps shut til the device is revealed. In the end it either works or fails and nothing we can say changes that. This forum is like arguing about Paris Hilton - pointless. There are much better venue to examine and argue the finer points of over unity devices - try google. If you bright bulbs really want to work you shorts into a wad, try figuring out why Steorn would publicly announce such a device in the 1st place - there's a bit of intrigue for you. All the physics classes in the world won't help you understand that. All right lads, back to your xboxes, nintendos and ps1/2/3 - everybody out of the water.
There appears to be a remarkable coincidence between the Steorn-Orbo phenomena and that of moving statues. IMHO both are expressions of collective delusion by sincere people with powerful religious fervour and a belief system which is out of focus.
Orbo seems very similar to Perendev magnetic motor:

It is a little premature to criticize, isn't it? The guy is able to point to what failed and didn't work and spell out technological reasons that can be corrected. Its a little early to beat at a guy for making, what appears to be, an honest effort.
You people are so cruel. These guys have spent a lot of time and money advertising and getting the word out about free energy.
You should at least check out their latest demo before commenting:

I bet someone found a Schroedinbug in the device and caused all of the devices to stop working. =D
In reality, there are some flaws in the laws of quantum mechanics, but ... magnets... that will not work. Magnetism is a conservative force... so it is impossible to produce energy from something cycling in it (similar to lifting a book up to a height and then dropping it). Unless the orbo produces a black hole or causes some other physical oddity, there is no chance that it can produce over 100% efficiency. Nice try though. *raises beer mug to appraise their fooling of thousands*
I only have one question: is there any way to invest in a short position against these fools? I would very much enjoy making a large bet with thermodynamics on my side.
In an efficient market, of course, the payoff would be 0.000000000001% or thereabouts, so my inability to get rich quick off of this folly is yet another example of the First Law of Thermoeconomics: "There's no such thing as a free lunch."

I believe this vid will intro you to the fact that the human race, the majority thereof, have been dumbed down about a lot of things over many thousands of years. Although Steorn may be dreamers or schemers or quite possibly on to something, it is far better then pretending to be a serious critic or a voice with any intelligence related to any topic or undertaking when your life is nothing but an opinion and an opinion giver and is void of any actual personal experience.
