Commodore unveils lineup of US-bound gaming desktops
Unlike some companies we've seen, it appears that Commodore Gaming is actually keeping its word, as the company has just now released the final details on its lineup of flashy US-bound gaming rigs. The Cg, Cgs, Cgx, and Cxx machines progress gradually from least extreme to highly 1337, and all four can be customized to suit your every fantasy. To give you an idea of what's on tap (if you've got the coin), the Cxx packs a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 processor, twin 500GB 7,200RPM hard drives in a RAID 0 array, 2GB of Corsair RAM, DVD-RW optical drive, an 850-watt power supply, Creative's Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card, Windows Vista, and dual 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra GPUs to boot. As far as pricing goes, word on the street is that the base system will start out around $1,700, but we'll know for sure when these come stateside in Q3.

Oh great now I can relive my affection for the Commodore 64 I had way back when. I still have it now. Maybe now I can finally live my dream of owning a highly overpriced quad core version of the he** on earth I have experienced with the 64.

I'd rather hold my breath for a revamped Amiga... and Duke Nuke'em...
Nevermind. Life is a much better alternative.
Better yet I want to have a Quad Core SLI-Enabled MITS 8800. Nothing better than fragging it up using an old school switch board and a paper tape drive running Linux Lawlz.

Although I am a huge C64 fanatic, I would not buy any products from that company. First, the company is in no way associated with Commodore Business Machines which went bankrupt in 1994. Second, my eyes are still bleeding from some of the horrendous grammar from that website like, "...you want the edge that gaming supreme will give you," and "If you take your games serious," and "We Open Store Mid April!"
Not as expensive as I thought. Why do they think adding those stamps to the cpu is cool...?
Really... at first glance I thought two of those boxes had pics of horribly raw gaping wounds on them. Especially that first one, which looked all the world like a gangrenous flesh eating virus had had its way with the box. The second one just looks rude, in that pron sort of way, you know?
Or maybe I just need better coffee...
Alright, that's it.
By "cpu" did you mean computer case? I would imagine adding "stamps" to the "cpu" would probably cause some issues with the heatsink, and I don't think anyone would think that was "cool"
You wouldn't call your car an "engine"
Dont call your computer a "cpu" or "hard drive"
These are PARTS of a computer.
Girls like flowers.
Computer has flower.
You get laid more. QED.
the fact that the name is popping up is cool and all but why bother when they arent even pushing nothing new? all these things are available on the market and have been for a while
but can they run doom?
jcollum: if the girl thinks you like flowers she may think you're a homo
ohh snap!!!
....or a florist...
Well I was impressed until I read that they're going to use "Vista".
This is an "OS" I won't touch until I see how well "SP!" resolves the
ton of issues it has.
So are "you" still "using" Windows "98". Where are you "getting" your information about all of these "tons" of issues from? I'm going on "4" months now "nary" an "issue".
.zip file compression.decompression is slow, BitLocker has serious issues with 3rd party apps, aka Norton Anti-Virus, etc.
Try Google instead of a random poster - it'll respond faster.
@chadow:
You're right. I've never been mugged, therefore there's no such thing as a mugger, and nobody ever gets their wallet or purse stolen.
blue...I "was" being "sarcastic".
I have to machines running Vista, and haven't had a single hardware or software problem. On another note, issues that some people might find are likely driver issues that the manufacturer of that product is responsible for, not MS or the Vista developers. Waiting is fine for those that feel they must but to say it has TONS of issues is misinformation.
Back to the topic...I wish they would have just put the big Commodore logo on it...I would want one just for that. I was a Commodore Vic20 and 64 owner.
zilla...you are for a point with that one. I never said issues don't exist. There are issues with ANY software if you want to find them.
Insert 'stretching', somehow it deleted that word.
@chadow:
Um, yeah, you did, when you said:
"I'm going on "4" months now "nary" an "issue"."
According to you, since you haven't experienced an issue in 4 months, no issues exist. Your own words.
Lol@Johnzilla, that is one of the dumbest things you could have said there. Just becuase someone says they are running without issue, doesnt mean the software doesnt have problems. I am currently typing this on a Sony VAIO running Vista Business without ANY problems whatsoever. Does that mean I think that Vista is perfect? Does that mean Ive never heard of people having problems with it? No! It just means *I* havent had any problems with it.
zzzzzzzzzz
Yeah, putting graphics on a rectangular box instead of coloring the rectangular box beige, gray, or black is cool, but when is there going to be a company that releases cool desktop rigs that AREN'T rectangular boxes? Gimme one shaped like a Christmas tree, or a motorcycle, or whatever. If you're going to keep making rectangular boxes, at least gimme one with Domo-kun on it!
Alright, that's it.
