Sofmap's Digital Olive DAP: an olive, not an egg
Don't call it an i-EGG, that's obviously the Digital Olive from Sofmap. Riiiight. Measuring just 3.1-inches around the waist and 5.5-inches long, this three piece DAP with integrated 3-watt speakers lacks any built-in storage making due with a line-in jack or MP3/WMA playback from SD/MMC or devices slung off its USB host port. Unfortunately, it doesn't pack a headphone jack so you're stuck with listening to those tiny, tinny speakers. Ah well, yours in Japan starting July 24th for just ¥5,980 or about $49 for a good OEM idea gone bad.

Wow and a 32MB card to you know, show it off.
I wonder what half a song is on it?
-and which half?
Wait..., .31 inches around the waist and 5 inches long? That sounds like the dimensions of a pencil... Surely you mean 3.1 inches in diameter or something like that.
Pretty useless as a player but I kinda like how it looks.
Still wouldn't buy one though.
Haha I like the design, if I just had the money I'd buy one for sure!
There's room for a line in, but no headphones (aka line out)?
How useless
Looks like a straight up design rip-off of JBL's Creature speakers.
Umm, mabey i'm the only one with several milk crates of misc. audio equipment and bits of wire, but a simple mono to stereo Y adapter (that is, a y adapter that is an inverse of the norm, two male and one female) would do that trick for those who wan't to use headphones.
I'm not sure if radioshack sells one, but one could be made in a few minutes if you have two y splitters you can part with.
As for upgraded speakers, you could pretty much bring any speakers you want to it, provided they are un-amplified, so you really arn't limited to those tiny tinny speakers at all...
also: if you're using line-in, your probably using a device with *gasp* a headphone jack... so if you wan't to use this as external speakers for an MP3 Player you don't really care about the lack of headphone support anyway.
It's accutally a pretty great device for only $50, it'll play off of USB (and i have a few of those that i really don't use) it'll play off SD (and those can be had pretty big for pretty cheap).
it sure as hell isn't going to replace an iPod, but it's a million times better than most external speakers since it has it's own MP3 Player built in.
So what's all the hate about? i don't get it? are you all really going to tell me that the lack of a headphone jack (that can be worked around) is really going to put you off to a pretty good product?
Ehh, whatever, i guess it's too hard to be bothered with thinking outside the box when you can just go and buy something in a box.
Not really new as this has been on newegg
