The PS3 debuted at $499. After they sell out the 60gig units, people will only be able to purchase the PS3 for $599. Disregarding the "extras" they force you to buy, this is actually a $100 INCREASE in price.
The 20GB PS3 debuted at $499 and the 60GB at $599. Then they stopped selling the 20GB version. Then the 60GB version was cut to $499 with the 80GB coming in at $599. So essentially, the price of the PS3's elite version has consistently stayed at $599. So unless you're talking about the increase from the bottom version to the top, then there hasn't been a price increase at all. In fact with the inclusions it comes out to be more bang for your buck.
Look when the PS3 first came out, you could buy it for $499. Once they sell out of the $499 60gig units, and all thats left is the $599 SKU, the least you can spend to buy a PS3 will be $599.
It's not complicated.
Last year if I wanted a PS3 I could have one for $499. Come "the end of July", I will have to spend $599 a PS3.
See?
And talking about "more bang for your buck" is ridiculous. With the $599 SKU, you are losing hardware PS2 emulation, so there wont be full compatibility with all the PS2 games. You get 60gigs more hard drive space, wow, the retail rate for a 400 gig hard drive is under $100, and and a bundled game that you may or may not want. If you think this is a deal you're an idiot. Sony is charging you more and giving you less for your money.
The Rip is the latest addition to the Boogie eWriter line, devices that let you scribble notes and drawings and can be wiped away with the press of a button.

Now, that's a smart comment, if I ever heard one...
by the way, that was in a sarcastic tone, if you couldn't tell...
What? No it didn't. They just cut it last week to $499.
