Sony says $499 60GB PS3 is staying alive (alive!) in US
After some turbulent hours of confusion over this story, Sony finally got its facts straight and let the world know that it is in fact not going to discontinue its 60GB PS3 in US Update: This has been semi-contradicted once again, with Sony now saying that they have enough stock to sell 60GB consoles for the next few months, but it doesn't sound like they'll be making any more after that. According to Karraker, "We won't be making any further announcements regarding our PS3 model hardware strategy in North America until the 60GB model is exhausted and market conditions are evaluated."

It seems as though Sony is quickly becoming one of the most untrustworthy companies out there. Anybody remember the DRM debacle?
This is so strange, 20gb, 60gb, 80gb, emotion engine, no engine, wifi, no wifi. Good lord, how many variations are out there now??? I hope you get your act together Sony by the time I get one when Time Crisis and Soul Calibur 4 comes out!
@jj
3 variations.
20gb, no wifi
60gb, wifi(europe has no EE)
80gb, wifi, no EE.
simple. technically 4, but only 3 in the states, one barely exists(20gb).
So when did John Kerry get the job at Sony? They like to flip-flop like good ol' Kerry.
Why don't they introduce an 80gb unit at $599 and keep the 60gb at $499, and when the 60's are gone... sell the 80gb at $499.
