UK teen buys PS2 on eBay, receives box stuffed with 44,000
A young man in the UK got a serious shock when the PS2 that he'd won on eBay arrived at his home in Aylsham, Norfolk. The game system -- which he'd paid £95 for -- arrived without the two games promised by the seller, but with £44,000, or about $90,378. The boy and his family turned the money over to police, who are holding it until late September under the UK's "Proceeds of Crime Act" while they investigate the case. A spokesman for eBay described the situation as "somewhat unusual," while the boy was overheard mumbling that he "Would have rather gotten Gran Turismo 3." In related news, the cast of Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels said that they would "Find that box no matter what kind of uniquely British hi-jinks are required."[Thanks, Mark]

This Nigerian scammer clearly got the concept of the scam wrong. You're supposed to send a fake check for $90K, not the actual cash!
Haha! Somewhere the sender's superior in the UK narcotics pyramid is not happy...
i understand turning in the money is a smart thing to do. but consider the alternative, you keep the money for fear of life. this guy just mailed you a parcel through ebay. he already has you address. with a simple click of the button ebay will give you the phone number as well. So there is a guy out there with your most vital of information and is short that sum of money. is the police watching your house while they keep the money? Seems to me someones coming to visit, and you gave his money away. i would rather have his money when comes by and live a few more days!
the thing is though, why would the seller even send it if he knew there was cash inside the PS2?
He clearly didnt know the cash was inside there, so why would he think "Oh yea, i forgot i put the cash inside my PS2! doh!"
SHOULD HAVE SPENT IT.
@Bob
No, it is. I'm just a huge Ritchie/Statham fan, that's all.
Two best movies ever!!!
Who's to say that they won't still knock on your door with a waving baseball bat for being a dummy and turning the money over to the jakes? Better off keeping it cuz they aint gettin it back.
The police received the 44K from the family and are holding the 34K for investigation.
After 2months if noone collects the 24K the money will be returned to the family, all 14K of it.
haha - heard a joke along those lines ages ago....
Sounds like money makes for the worst ringer ever!

Negative Feedback: Item not as described
LOL.
You know the references to 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrel' + 'Snatch' are there for a reason. You spend all the money, then one quiet day this criminal gang pays you a visit, ties you upside down, ties your parent down to use as a tee for the golf balls they hurl at your body demanding to know where their cash is before hurling a sharp spike at your stomach. Suddenly greed doesn't pay. Now of course that's a worse case scenario, but hardly worth the risk since some criminal gangs around England and Europe can be pretty rough, I'm sure those on the other side of the pond are familiar.
