6G iPod UI video: Apple's new interface?

According to this MacRumors video -- which has since been pulled per request of Apple's legal department -- the new iPod interface will look a lot like the iPhone. Go figure. Of course, there's always the chance that this video might be a fake, but if that's the case, why is Apple so worried about it? See for yourself after the break.

Sixth generation and still using the 1 dimensional navigation huh? This is consistently reviewed as the single feature that Zune does better than iPod, why not fix it?

Before a developer spends a lot of time coding a new interface, you have people that prototype what an interface might look like. An interface designer would probably build this in Photoshop and After Effects. It doesn't have to be perfection, it just has to impart how the interface might work and what it looks like.

There is no way to know if it's real or fake, but if it is real, I'm sure this is an early prototype.

although i dont think this is real.... i will laugh my ass off of the ones who are "so smart that is obvious to them that this is fake" if this turns out to be it but had a lot of bugs.

This video means absolutely nothing, except it was able to get a lot of vile responses on pure speculation. Nobody here knows anything for certain about the next iPod, except for the fact that there will be many tens of millions sold throughout the world. Whatever interface the next iPod uses, it will be head and shoulders above all the other media players.

Apple + iPod = $$$Ker-ching$$$. On the way to $200 a share. Thanks to all for supporting the buzz and hype.

It is Apple's policy to neither confirm nor deny any rumors, whether they be true or false. Apple will vigorously take action against fake rumors as they would against real leaks. This makes it tougher to distinguish the accurate rumors from the fakes, giving Apple the element of surprise

I'd prefer a 5G iPod to this laggy interface.

Here's why I think it's fake:
-bogus Beatles songs
-weird different menubars and changing battery meters - even in the same 'shot'
-Clocks - you'll notice for a second that Addis Abba is showing 10:55 when it's supposed to be 5:55, and then they start overtaking/overlapping eachother.
-4:3 interface... still

well, its not 16x9, it looks like SHIT compared to the iPhone UI, and really its not all that different from the 4 and 5 g ipods at all.

It just doesnt seem "new" enough to be the iPods new interface, especially with that beautiful iPhone interface out.

if i had to guess, then the new ipod will strongly resemble the iphone.

Wow, Engadget...

This is FAKE.

First off, it was obviously made in FLASH.
Second, the BATTERY LIFE changes in the "Now Playing" movie when they go from menu mode to fullscreen mode.
Third, Apple would never design something in which the song list has a font way bigger than the menu title font.
Fourth, the clock is terribly designed... Look at the placement of the numbers on the clock.
Fifth, the songs on the Beatles' albums are way messed up. (Look up the album on Amazon to view the track list.)

Video was taken down by Apple legal. Historically, they don't take down false information. The GUI is for the Nano, not the regular iPod.

I would say this is fake, everyone has commented on everything, yes the world clock really gives it away as the second hands are always the same, in every world clock application not just with apple products,
but has no-one noticed that the two cities display the exact same time when he goes to select Addis...?? looks like a big indication he used the same image for when the clock is selected and didn't change the time on it
