Fujitsu LIfebook T2010 tablet snooped at the FCC
It looks like the "handsome" new Fujitsu T2010 that we saw back in the beginning of July has made its way into the loving arms of the FCC -- where they've given it their precious stamp of approval. Of course, this doesn't mean anything yet, as the company hasn't made any announcements, but it does open the possibility of seeing the 12.1-inch ultralight tablet around these parts in the future. The Core 2 Duo system runs on Intel's Santa Rosa 965 chipset, with an integrated X3100 GMA graphics chip, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a weight starting at just 3.31 lbs. Check the read link for pages of fascinating FCC documents.

Tell me that's not the actual computer you're talking about.
I see someones backyard, and two bamboo pillars to the left and right of the picture.
I hate to believe that that's what the FCC labs look like.

That was at the manufacturer's warehouse. The FCC doesn't run those preliminary tests. It's up to the manufacturer and they submit the results to the FCC for approval.
The photos are submitted to show that the set up was done correctly.

It's nice to see that you can rely on the FCC not to leak photos of EVERY device they get their hands on.
carlo @ Jul 23rd 2007 9:14PM
The photos weren't leaked. They're part of the submission and if the company wants them to be confidential, they submit a letter.
They are allowed a certain number of days to keep the pictures under wraps, mainly for competition purposes.

What are the stickers on the left and right? I can make out the Vista one...
clos1084 @ Jul 23rd 2007 11:18PM
its got a Intel sticker too. Vista sticker but its running XP?
Igor @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:44PM
There's a "Penabled" sticker from Wacom on the left, and the Intel, and Vista stickers on the right.
Looks pretty good all in all, I have a T4215 and it's a nice tablet.

Handling the cord on this product will expose you to LEAD, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Wash hands after using.

Careful now.
They aren't required to tell you what's in those warning labels!

Excuse my newbieness for a moment, but — what exactly is a tablet PC? Is it basically a laptop with a main screen that's like the bottom one on a Nintendo DS (just using that as an example)?
trev @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:20PM
pretty much except you can rotate the screen 180 and fold it over the keyboard so you can use it like a sketchbook. If it uses a wacom digitiser on the screen you can paint in photoshop and the like with pressure sensitivity.

Cool! Hm. I wonder if they're cheaper than just buying a tablet… *runs off to Google and eBay to see*

Hey Mr. Engadget, I did hit up the read link and read all of the FCC information and it wasn't the least bit facinating! Thanks for wasting 2 hours of my life...
