Zune puppet rap video irreversibly damages brain cells
What happens when you combine a video camera, a case of Jolt, and an over-zealous love for Microsoft's Zune? Well, if you're the auteurs / podcasters / rappers called Team Fremont, you make a Halo Zune rap video that has permanently damaged the collective eyes of Engadget. Due to the million watt terror you've unleashed, our intern will probably never be able to have children -- thanks a lot, guys. See the terrifying work for yourself after the break.

I think it's perfectly suited to the product.
Sophomoric and poorly implemented.
CallEmLikeISeeEm @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:30PM
Hey, stupid - this is not a 'Microsoft product' it is a corny video made by microsoft fanboys (like you, except with a degree of talent - if you would call it that).
It isn't about the Zune itself, therefor the comments are directed at the incredibly sad & pathetic video.
But your fanboyism to the 10th degree makes you defensive of anything negative toward the inherently negative Zune.
strider_mt2k @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:33PM
If it helps any, I don't like iPods either.
See? I'm an equal opportunity hater!
Gotta take the bad with the good man.
I own a Sansa, but you don't see me crying about it if someone doesn't like one.
-of course we didn't have a weeks' worth of Sansa hype shoved down our throats like with with those other...things either, so go figure.
Don't take it personally.
Matt @ Jul 23rd 2007 7:21PM
I'll tell you what I'm an iPoder and I like the Sansa. I use a Mac so if they ever make it work well with a Mac I might just buy one.
But back to the Zune, if I had not read the title I almost would have thought it was a real ad, all the Zune ads are just plain odd.
strider_mt2k @ Jul 23rd 2007 7:00PM
Wow.
The comment right after my initial one was removed, so the comments after my initial one are a bit out of context.
And by "a bit" I mean "almost completely".
stephenbratz2 @ Jul 23rd 2007 8:03PM
strider_mt2k: Yep, apparently the Engadget Mods "accidentally" deleted my post and my account here also. If you really were hating on everything, then my applogies. For those that could read my post, here it is again, unedited:
What happened to all the Apple fans crying that if you did not likethe iPhone, then don't comment on it, don't hate, and let those who like their new phone enjoy what they just bought? Oh, that is right, it was Apple fans doing that, meaning that there is a double standard. The iPod/iPhone is perfect because it has the Apple logo onit and you may not criticize, but then those same people can turn around and say whatever they want about anything they want about a Microsoft product. And of course, the Engadget editors only contribute with their POS "reporting" that they do.
strider_mt2k @ Jul 23rd 2007 8:46PM
How very odd.
Is it shenanigans, or did you piss 'em off somehow?
chris @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:10PM
o-m-f-g...
Dante Cesa @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:12PM
Yup...
I doubt I will be able to have children now...
Ryan Buchanan @ Jul 24th 2007 12:20AM
I think my testicles have permenantly shrunk. I don't think my girlfriend will be happy about that. :S
p-diddy @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:12PM
Sorry, I thought it was pretty funny as a spoof. The shots and jiggling of the balloons? The grill? Hilarious.
If it wasn't supposed to be a spoof.... well, that's another story.
paloooz @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:12PM
Mmm ... interlaced.
Allan @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:35PM
PSP marketing group find a new job?
This stinks of the same stench as that mess.
SewGhey @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:14PM
Couldn't get through even the fist minute.
Between this & the fat tattoo dork, I'd be trying to do some damage control if I were Microsft's PR.
Pathetic.
Lame.
Appropriate.
WillNotSmith @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:22PM
...and to make it that much worse, it is a parody of 'Men In Black' an awful, awful song that was spoon fed to the mindless masses until it stuck in their collective heads.
Wow! Superb choice & so current! What's the matter? Couldn't find a copy of 'Ice Ice Baby' to RAP over?
I predict that the people who made this are fat, white sports fans.
LiQuiD_FuSioN @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:49PM
Wrong.
Will Smith wasn't the original creator of the song. It was first done by Patrice Rushen - Forget Me Not:

At least get your facts straight, whiny fan boy.
carl @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:09PM
I'd be willing to bet that the people who made this video are apple fanatics. You know, quasi-nerdy hipsters with great thick rimmed black glasses, and an amazing collection of belt buckles.
strider_mt2k @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:22PM
Like Harry Potter!
WillNotSmith @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:30PM
@liquid fusion
HA HA HA HA HA!
I can't believe you knew that!
Oooh, I stand corrected! So humbled now! That makes ALL the difference! I've changed my mind that video is AWSOME after all!
What a dick!
Are you going to impress us all with your deep knowledge of all the American Idol contenders next?
Song still sucks, no matter who did it, and the video is beyond ghey.
Custodial Arts Carl (Brian's dad) @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:35PM
"I'd be willing to bet that the people who made this video are apple fanatics. You know, quasi-nerdy hipsters with great thick rimmed black glasses, and an amazing collection of belt buckles."
and unlike you, actually get laid regularly.
LiQuiD_FuSioN @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:55PM
Never said the song was good, you stupid douche.
Please, just remove yourself from that computer chair and go away. You lose at teh int3rn3tz b4dly.
WillNotSmith @ Jul 23rd 2007 6:40PM
yes, yes - and you are king of the internet since you can type things like "You lose at teh int3rn3tz b4dly."
bet your the coolest 4th grader here...
Isn't there a pokemon tounament somewhere that your missing?
michael Lee @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:42PM
and ironic that it was posted using apple's quick time. . .
Argot @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:46PM
It takes crap to make crap.
Sy @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:24PM
Micrsoft viral campaign much?
Jeremy K. @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:24PM
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
BatteryAcid @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:26PM
I'd tap a few of those puppets.
Speedmonkay @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:38PM
I think my favorite lines
"Come on everybody.. Fuck that iPod!"
Then followed by the end of the song where it pretty much sounds like he is begging people to buy a Zune ... much like real life ...
crescentdavid @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:38PM
I'm with battery acid. But before I deploy my big "boom" stick, I'd encourage all the clueless applets to buy a economy size bucket of iHumor- you're definitely in need of an upgrade.
alexberg @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:40PM
Haha this was just what I needed!
Gotta love this, indeed do!
Kenny @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:44PM
I'm watching that without audio at work. I think I'm about to have a seizure... That had to be about the silliest thing I've seen in my entire life. The balloons were when the funny started, it just kept building on from that, haha. Thanks for the "terrific" birthday present!
steve @ Jul 23rd 2007 3:51PM
what a very elegant slow slam.
jyoungin @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:10PM
The creator of this video is kind of making fun of the Zune. Maybe engadget should have listened to the song and watched the video more closely.
M@ @ Jul 24th 2007 10:32PM
Just what I was thinking - if this is a product of "an over-zealous love for Microsoft's Zune" then why are they pulling the piss out of it??
Terd @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:20PM
"Team Fremont"
Guess who has an office in Fremont (it's a section of Seattle)..
That's right, Google has an office there... this is hilarious
David Smoot @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:17PM
More likely it is referencing the city of Fremont, California in the heart of Silicon Valley.
David
Manfred @ Jul 23rd 2007 6:25PM
Or maybe neither. Maybe it's just a video created by the guys from TeamFremont.com poking fun at J Allard.
Nah...that would make too much sense.
Ross @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:34PM
My ears are bleeding.
Eric Iffland @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:44PM
bad
michael @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:54PM
I actually found this to be quite amusing.
Torgo @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:00PM
I know these guys, and I was at a party 2 weeks ago when they debuted this. It is a spoof. They do NOT like the Zune!

mmmmmm, balloons!
Morgon @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:09PM
Is there a reason the 'lead paper bag' looks like South Park's Mr(s). Garrison?
boolean22 @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:11PM
HA! We posted at the same time, I know I saw that before, tho I stand with my Terrence and Phillipe version.
boolean22 @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:10PM
This is freakin awesome... Tho is like a paper spoof of Terence and Phillipe from South Park!!
Duren @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:31PM
Seriously people, did you even watch it? It's obviously a spoof making fun of the Zune and J. Allard.
Manfred @ Jul 23rd 2007 6:06PM
DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!
Jeez folks, this isn't exactly complex satire. The entire thing is poking fun at J Allard. I mean...wow...just watch the video. It says "J Allard" at the beginning of the damn thing.
Constable Odo @ Jul 23rd 2007 6:02PM
Nice tits on the female puppets. I couldn't figure out whether they were grapes or balloons. Other than that, it was a rather forgettable, silly video.
PhAsR @ Jul 23rd 2007 7:38PM
oh man that cuased my SOME SERIOUS PERMANENT BRAIN DAMAG! XD
