Sony shows off "Hana" speaker / lamp concept
As far as unusual speakers go, Sony's new "Hana" concept is certainly less out there than some of the questionable contraptions we've seen, although that doesn't necessarily mean it's any more likely to actually be available one day. As you can see above, in addition to pumping out tunes, the Hana (that's Japanese for flower, hence the design) also doubles as a lamp (an LED lamp, specifically), and apparently comes equipped with its own MP3 player. While you may not be able to get your hands on this one anytime soon, those in the market for a speaker/lamp combo surprisingly do have a number of other options to choose from.

Considering how cramped most of the living spaces in Japan are, this thing will probably sell a reasonable amount regardless of how ridiculous it may appear to most of us

If these can end up being hooked up as rear surround sound speakers, Im sold.. I hate having to have my speakers on stands that "stand" out...
