OPPO Blast PMP is blowing up your FLVs
OPPO, a PMP maker we've come to expect some interesting designs from (see the guitar-shaped DAP and the pendant player), is bringing something a little more tame to market. The 6.9mm thick Blast sports a 2.4-inch TFT screen, takes microSD cards, and can play back all the standards, like MP3, WMA, MP4, AVI, XVID, and FLAC, which is all well and good, though we've seen a million of these and counting. What's different in this case -- at least a little -- is that the Blast can supposedly play back FLV files, which gives it a certain modern flavor, and suggests that even mass-produced China-ware is getting caught up in the YouTube game. Not available anywhere even close to the US, price unknown.

Going by OPPOs other PMPs it should come out at about £50 - £60... which is nice

And us Flash developers rejoice as our learning of flash might pay off eventually.

Eventually?? Uh, Flash developers are in very high demand right now here in NYC, especially for video. If you know Flash and you aren't working, you must have a screw loose.

Let me add, I get requests from all over the US for work. Seems that Flash/Flex is popular with most businesses with an online project.

Nice device. It would be nicer if it could take standard AA batteries (unlikely). I wish they made them so they wouldn't have to be constantly tethered to rechargers. If you forget to recharge or there's a power outage, you're screwed. No matter. We'll never see the device here in the States.

That thing looks thinner than a AA battery.
On second thought, I shouldn't even reply to your comment, as we clearly value different things in PMPs and thank god things like this do not take big old batteries.

seems like an upgraded meizu miniplayer - nice footsteps to follow
