Saitek independent LCD interface boxes for flight sims
At E3 earlier this month, Saitek demoed a peripheral sure to spark the interest of many a flight sim enthusiast. Their product, for now with no name, enables flight simulators to display different, customizable information from the "game" on three separate LCDs. Effectively, the displays emulate a real cockpit, where each bit of information comes from a separate module that is integrated into the dash. The device is scheduled for a fall launch, will cost only $99.99, and will be supported in several flight sims beyond the obvious Flight Simulator X -- we're crossing our fingers for X-Plane support.

Oh God, I love it when somebody has the same sense of humor as me. I actually used to watch that show. It was like a bad accident, you just couldn't look away.

now these are the kinds of things I look forward to see coming out. I am sure when they do that there will be mods a plenty that will take advantage of the extra space for different displays.

Spanky: Does "CI" mean anything to you?
Can I use one of the screens to play movies while on my flight from Chicago to LA?

Mile: I don't see anything that it could mean to me.

seconding this
Flight sim nuts are bigger nuts than car nuts.
When you've got a left and right-hand stick, a yoke and pedals on a dedicated table with a dedicated computer with multiple displays, you're pretty committed.

Will it Work For Doom?

Very nice, but for this to be more than a toy someone needs to come out with something that emulates MFDs like the Flightmax Entegra. Many newer PCs can handle multiple video cards and adding a second low-end controller ($100) with two 17" or 19" displays ($200/ea) would be a huge (

This would be handy if you wanted to monitor servers.

I'm not even a big flight sim person, but I want it. Hopefully it will be capable of doing things other than flight sims through plugins or what have you.

Old altimiters go for 15$ on ebay. I wonder how hard it would be to wire up one to a USB interface with a couple of servos and do the exact same thing on a real instrument rather than a seperate screen.

oh yeah i hope there is plug-ins for FPS ... maybe radar displays or mini map displays. Mini TFT LCD screens on eBay go for like 60-200 bucks in the 4" - 8" range, so this is really a good deal. Does each screen have a VGA input? In the pic i see atleast 3 cables visible. That's the whole unit right? 3 screens right? Not 100 bucks for one? Count me in!
