I don't know about iPlayer, but I can tell you first hand that it works on Wal-Mart video download purchases.
FairUse4WM works on ANY media files that can be played in Windows Media Player.
I have used it on Video Downloads from my local library, and on audio book downloads from my local library as well.
FairUse4WM works on Amazon Unbox, too. Goes great with their $0.99 weekend movie rentals! Strips the 'rental' right out of them.
I would try it and let you know but it doesn't work on Vista.
It seems like the BBC got their definition of "BETA" from Google. iPlayer keeps getting announced and tested and subject to trust reviews, yet it's still beta. Like Gmail.
Actually ICQ has been doing this for years. ICQ used to always be marked beta regardless. I've not used the official client in years but I bet it still says beta. So if anything Google is copying ICQ (before it became AOL).

It looks like it will work, iPlayer uses the same annoying Windows Media DRM like all the other services similar to it.
P.S. I haven't received my beta invitation yet, does anyone know the direct download link for the installation?

Haven't got the link yet. Maybe cos I registered on my mac and not on my pc? Do you think they'll send me an email saying im not compatible?
I signed up using Safari on Mac Os, but was still accepted and confirmed. The IPlayer software may only work on windows but Parallels sorts this out easy enough. Playback is choppy via media player though so most of the time I simply strip the drm and play via VLC on Mac Os.
Must say the software is horrible though. Throughs up javascript errors when communicates with IE and often shows are unavailable for no reason. Quality is less than most PDTV rips, and the sharing technology used is essentially P2P, meaning that if I dont monitor what the app is doing and force close the service after ive finished downloading I often experience an awfull browsing experience ( due to using nearly all available upload bandwidth ).
The software itself is nothing remarkable at all and is simply the same sevice that has been offered to Sky Movie and Sport Customers for the past 12 months rebranded with alternative content.
so wish the iplayer would work for people outside of the uk. being a brit living abroad i would love the ability to play the shows that bbc america doesn't screen.
They are working on an internationalised version with BBC Worldwide. Don't know if it's ad supported or via subscription/ppv but you should be getting something if FairUse4WM doesn't kill it stone dead.
Definety works. Downloaded the weeks eastenders (for sister) and mock the week and top gear arctic special. Bye bye DRM with all of them.
To get Iplayer working on vista: http://www.fiddlertool.com/useragent.aspx, and download the registry key for IE6. The latest Fairuse4drm works fine on Vista, and works fine stripping the DRM from Iplayer downloads.
Works fine provided you haven't upgraded to WMP 11. If you have, you can go back but you will have to replace a hidden folder in Windows.
