Hacha readies ultrathin PC20 portable media player
Although the amount of iPhone knockoffs flying out of foreign ports has died down substantially over the past few weeks, we can't help but note the resemblance between Apple's handset and Hacha's latest PMP. Of course, we're not kvetching about the ultrathin enclosure and expansive three-inch screen, but we sure wish we knew a bit more about its mysterious internals. Still, it ought not be too long of a wait before final details are loosed, but click on through for an alternate shot in the meantime.

iPhone!
Nahh, just kidding. That thing looks sweet.
I wonder what's in it...
7of7 @ Jul 27th 2007 9:35AM
Newsflash: Apple doesn't own the rounded rectangle.
r19578 @ Jul 27th 2007 9:50AM
Nobody own the checkmark, but when you print it on a pair of shoes, YOU know it means Nike.
7of7 @ Jul 27th 2007 9:51AM
The check mark is a little more distinctive than the rounded rectangle. I mean, Apple makes clamshell notebooks too, does that mean every clamshell notebook is an Apple ripoff? No.
Argot @ Jul 27th 2007 9:52AM
@r19578 so the iPhone actually means LG Prada? Who knew...
Terc @ Jul 27th 2007 2:31PM
No, but they have been producing a slim phone with silver rounded metal wrapped around the perimeter of a rectagular device, which has black bars on right and left of the screen (when held horizontally).
To claim this was in no way inspired by the iPhone design is a little ignorant in my opinion.
The OpenMoko was close though... and developed before the iPhone was announced. I suppose it could have happened again, but the similarity is a little close for comfort.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Technically Nike do own that swoosh design

"we can't help but note the resemblance between Apple's handset and Hacha's latest PMP"
Well and I can't help but note the resemblance between the LG Prada and Apple's handset.

This is what the iPod G6 should be, but won't be because Apple lacks balls when it comes to pushing existing devices forward.
Darnell @ Jul 27th 2007 10:43AM
Apple is pushing industrial design forward. Notice all the rip-offs? But, no this isn't one of them. Maybe if I close one eye and squint with the other...

Hacha...this product is licensed by the estate of Jimmy Durante.

What pictures says to us? A microUSB (am I right?) port, a P2 jack and something that looks like a SD card port.
Timothy Sottek @ Jul 27th 2007 10:22AM
Someone please patent the trapezoid before Apple 'revolutionizes' it.
M @ Jul 27th 2007 10:34AM
I hope this will be the last time I read the words "three-inch" and "expansive" right next to each other.
Hacha Online @ Jul 27th 2007 11:07AM
This looks a lot like the current Hacha R280S model, but with a solid casing. You can buy the R280S at http://hachaonline.com.
The PC20 will most likely be available here when released.
roc ingersol @ Jul 27th 2007 11:45AM
Looks like the bastard son of an iPhone and an n800.
Ellianth @ Jul 27th 2007 1:07PM
Yay, now you have a brother :).
Paul @ Jul 27th 2007 12:06PM
This looks like a pretty nice playa. Whether or not any of these manufacturers are trying to copy the iPhone, they're putting out some nice looking stuff that's probably not going to cost an arm and a leg.
Sometimes cheap electronics are a really good value. I'd potentially buy something like this if the price is right.
Neeko @ Jul 27th 2007 12:23PM
Iam realyl consudering buy this or there new product the R280S. I want a 3' thin video/music player. There current model is only $160. which is pretty cheap for a risk. Its better then paying $600 for a device iam never gonna activate with cell svc.
ProfessionalGun @ Jul 27th 2007 1:40PM
Now if we can just get a size comparison photo of that PMP next to the other coins of the world. . . . For all I know, that coin could be the size of the 'ol US 50 cent piece.
Elaine @ Jul 27th 2007 8:22PM
It also highly resembles the iRiver Clix2.
C'mon, not everything should revolve around the iPhone...
