Next-gen Zune "Scorpio" rumored to be delayed
While Microsoft has yet to officially announce anything about its next-generation Zunes, we've had no shortage of rumors informing us of the company's supposed plans. Last we heard, Microsoft so-called "Scorpio" and "Draco" Zunes were headed for production in July, with something set to be released before the end of the year. Now, if this latest rumor is to be believed, Microsoft seems to have hit a snag. According to Zune Scene, while the flash-based Draco is reportedly still on track, the hard drive-based Scorpio has been delayed, supposedly due to "continuity problems between the flex cable and pcb." As a result, Zune Scene says the production run will now not be complete until "well into September." As with all of these rumors, however, we wouldn't pin too much hope/disappointment on them pending some further confirmation.

OMG. Just stop petending that zunes are good. You can cry, scream, pray, whatever... but it can't rival the ipod. Notice how new zuunes have been delayed? Think that might have something to with the fact that they saw what apple were doing and went "oh crap, we're still in the stone age" ??
And Like they did with Vista?!!?!?!
C'mon PC peeps, love your computer - but don't try to defend crap products.
Rabble. Rabble. Rabble.
That's so weird; a Microsoft product release has been delayed. That never happens. I truly hope everything is OK over there. I wouldn't want to think that they would release a flawed product before it's time.
Maybe a delay is not such a good idea.
Macworld UK says:
"Microsoft recently confirmed it has sold just over a million Zunes - but recent research says most Zune owners rue the day they ever dipped into their pocket to pick one up, with 70 per cent of Zune owners planning to ditch the device in favour of an iPod or iPhone just as soon as they can.
"Survey research from the Eagle Research Group shows most Zune owners are displeased, meaning the player has acquired little brand loyalty."
Perhaps Microsoft should just forget about the Zune 2.0 if even less are sold. Start selling iPhone and iPod accessories.
Macworld said it, I believe it, that settles it for me. :) (not)
Sounds like some real professional non biased reporting and journalism there.
Zune Draco and Scorpio? screw that! I'm waiting for the Zune Lucius! Then i can make it do battle with my iPotter!
I dunno man...I've had a lot of trouble with my iVoldemort. It plays music well enough, but I can't seem to make it stop killing my pets and then hiding little objects all around the house...
And your contribution to society is ... what?
If I had something useful to contribute I would, however, if I don't, I wouldn't go ahead and pollute the market with zooon-like trash.
You don't have to be an Apple fanboy to know that MS is waiting for a new iPod before they announce the Zune 2.0, so they don't get blown out of the water. If they have to rush some last-minute features in (or a quick redesign) in response to the next iPod, they'll do it.
I don't really get the point of this posting - other than that it serves as just one more attempt to make the Zune and the team behind it look like a failure - neither of which are the case.
So, to summarize, this "story" is a rumor about a rumored product, which, rumor has it, might not be in production yet..?
Gene from ZuneChannel.com
lol...finally a comment that made me smile.
OMG...... Baghdad Bob..... I mean, "Gene from ZuneChannel.com" is back!!!!!!
^ hilarious..
I loved my Zune before i accidently crushed it ... it has the best simple interface to operate ... and it's screen was beautiful ... the only reason i didn't buy a new one is i'm waiting for version 2.0.
Not a matter of which fanboy you are ... it's a solid good product now that they fixed most of the bugs with firmware updates.
If iPods were to be removed from the planet by alien invaders ipod users would like Zunes after a while when they got used to it.
It's so not worth arguing over ... they both play music well.
I love it when people comment on how great the Zune screen is. It is a streched resolution. It actually has the same exact resolution as the iPod but the screen is bigger. This means that the quality of the display is actually worse and looks worse. Have you ever watched standard TV broadcasts on an HDTV in widescreen mode? It is basically like that. The screen is so small you probably don't notice it but the video if played full screen is stretched slightly and the pixel size is bigger which means more pixelation. You can like that it has a bigger screen but it is defintely not a better screen, and again, same resolution means same amount of "stuff is viewed" just the iPod will look sharper because of the smaller pixel size.
Delayed? Sure, they want to see what the new iPod will look like adn what their feature set is before releasing another competitive dud.
