Shuttle intros barebones XPC Glamor Series SN68SG
They may not stray far from their tried and true design, but the folks at Shuttle sure seem to be keeping up a steady pace with their barebones PC, to which they've now added the AMD-based XPC Glamor Series SN68SG. Designed around the NVIDIA GeForce 7025/630a chipset, this one will support the latest AMD AM2 multi-core processors, along with up to 4GB of RAM, and some SATA2 or eSATA hard drives of your choosing. While you won't get 10 USB ports like some Shuttle systems, you will get an ample six, along with a pair of Firewire ports. No word on price, but we wouldn't expect it to put too much of a hurt on your bank account.

I'd be much more interested if this were built around a 690g chipset motherboard... that would make a great easy HTPC assuming driver support for multichannel audio over HDMI. So far the only OEM bare bones system I've seen sporting 690g is the Asus V3-M2A690G which doesn't sound like a killer deal at $150 retail but most places are discounting AM2 X2 processors when purchased together making the Asus kit end up costing less than an equivalent motherboard, case, and power-supply separately.
I had a Shuttle PC up until 2 days ago. It developed a heat-related shut down problem and drove me nuts. I took every piece of hardware I had in that thing and put it into another bigger case, and guess what, no problem. This after a host of other problems over the years.
Two years to warming death? Screw that. I wouldn't touch a Shuttle if it was given to me.
I've been building Shuttle XPCs for others for years now and I haven't come upon a heat related issue once. I'm not saying they are perfect but I haven't experienced heat issues since I built 15 for a small business back in 2003/04. I've recommended them to all my customers from then on.
