Halo's Covenant laser tag guns coming in October

If you haven't gotten hyped enough over the forthcoming third installment of the Halo series, perhaps you might want to get your paws on these illified (and expensive) toy guns from Jasman Toys. Apparently, the Halo 3-modeled firearms will not only look really bad-ass on your mantelpiece at home, but the recoiling, sound-projecting, light-flashing gats will also enable you to play a game of "advanced" laser tag, called "Halo Laser Pursuit." With the accompanying wearable laser target you can try and reenact your favorite scenes from the games, as the receivers perform somewhat like Halo's shields, or so says Jasman. Really the only way this game of tag differs from the actual game is that no one dies -- and it's not nearly as much fun. Priced between $79.99 and $119.99, available in October.

As extremely nerdy and childish as this is, if they actually work like in the game (plasma shields deplete), I would buy these and "Play Halo" with people.

For technical clarification, the noob combo was with a plasma pistol (ONE SHOT plasma shield depletion) and a BR, that if shot right in the head, would kill your enemy in one shot. Since this combination required some considerable skill to pull off correctly (see BOOOOOM HEAD SHOT!), it always bothered me that it was referred to as the noob combo. Nontheless, it is indeed.

Yeah I read a review a few days ago on another site (forget which) the laser "shield" does work just like in the game - duck behind cover for 10 secs or so and it will begin to recharge.

I'd have loved this stuff back when I was a schoolkid.

The manufacturer doesn't think they'll be doing the spartan weapons though because law enforcement in the US would likely think they are real and "take out" some innocent kids. Great place we live in.

I am sorry but halo wasn't all that great as it was. it was an AVERAGE FPS that brought nothing new to the table that does include halo 2 and its duel wielding of doom. like I could duel wield in fucking unreal. how about that bitches?

Halo 1 was the first console FPS that really nailed vehicles well, had impressive AI for its time, impressive graphics for its time, and some of the best console LAN gaming. It also nailed console FPS controls and has been the default for xbox FPS controls ever since.

Yeah dude, you really have probably either...
A. Never Played Halo
B. Only played for a few minutes.

because myself once being a naysayer of the halo series, i was finally harassed into playing it for myself, i was lent an xbox and halo 1 and 2 and found them to be, while not pushing to far out of the box, it did the genre well, for the first time on a console since goldeneye. The weapons are far more balanced and even in this game then in other shooters ive played, and the game requires much more skill than the twitch firing of Unreal Tournament.

Halo is not the greatest shit in the world...but who cares, its fun.

There are flaws with Go Karts, like...there not as fast as real cars...and you cant use them as bumper cars...but that doesnt stop them from being fun does it ?

People who say the Halo games are just average FPS titles are right... IF you are talking about PC gaming. But Halo isn't a PC game (despite a lackluster PC port), it's a CONSOLE game... and both Halo and Halo 2 were among the absolute best console shooters made. Does it compare well with Unreal? Who cares? You can't PLAY Unreal on an Xbox.

And that gun does look fun... I just hope it lasts longer than the old Laser Tag pistols. Those things tore up in what seemed like weeks.
