Sony offers repair on 416,000 Cyber-shot cameras
Sony announced plans today to offer repairs on the casings of 416,000 Cyber-shot DSC-T5 digital cameras the company has sold, as the bottom plating can warp and create a sharp edge which can cut or scratch user's hands. The repairs will affect 66,000 of the cameras sold in Japan, and another 350,000 which have been sold in the US, Europe, and China. A Sony spokesperson says about 30 customers in Japan and several others overseas reported "finding" the defect, which probably means a trip to the ER after trying to take a family photo. The company suggests checking model and serial numbers to see if your camera is affected -- we suggest leather gloves.

yet they still won't fix the defect in the lens that makes your pictures spotty
Yeah like some people won't try to fix their retardness

What about older models? My camera has this problem since 2004,but I guess it's to late now...They didn't accept it as a problem back then.
I would call or e-mail customer service and mention this problem. That's how they decide whether to fix a problem or not, the volume of customer complaints.
Now if only they would fix the E18 errors in about 50% of their point and shoot cameras, we'd have a good deal.
You could say, Cybershot give a *sharp* image.
I just got my DSC-F717 after getting it fixed for free. The CCD had to be replaced. The Sony repair center in Laredo TX did a fantastic and quick job. It's like a new camera. I did have to work hard to find out how to get this done though. It took several calls and google searches.
Do the colors bleed?
Has the price been slashed?
It is a sharp LOOKING camera.
Will Sony still fix my f 717 that went bad ?
