Zen Wav washes up on US shores
We don't know how many of you were patiently waiting for the Zen Wav to hit our fair shores, but it looks like the tiny black DAP has finally made it out of Asia. Other than the tinny built-in speakers, there's not a lot you haven't seen from Creative before: 4GB of flash, 1.5-inch screen, line-in, smug sense of non-conformity, and an FM tuner. All yours at Wal-Mart for $99.

LINE in? Nice! Now I can easily record the audio from movies in theaters for my homemade TS's (most have headphone jacks for the hearing impaired).

I always wondered why people didn't do that rather than use the video camera mic.
Dan @ Aug 8th 2007 7:36PM
Just to be clear, I meant for most releases, not just TS's.
Natedog @ Aug 8th 2007 7:38PM
Line-in isn't even close to being a new addition to DAPs.
Lazerface @ Aug 8th 2007 7:37PM
Its easier to use the audio from the cam mic than try to sync external audio with the camera, and then do the whole re-encode rigmarole.

maybe it's hard with scissors and tape but it's not hard in any modern software... I do this all the time... virtually every camera has worthless audio/mics on them anyways.
Dan @ Aug 8th 2007 8:43PM
Forgot to add your POS plug in, huh?
AlexP @ Aug 8th 2007 9:38PM
Indeed he has.

I thought this story was literally about Zen Wavs washing up on shore.

Wisely observed, friends.

Can you please not litter? I swear, the government should fine you trash-throwers.
As if we'd buy from you bottom-feeders anyhow.
Danbo @ Aug 9th 2007 5:02AM
$99 is only £50! Sounds like a v good deal for a 4gb Creative player.
PG @ Aug 9th 2007 10:51AM
Wait... 15 comments and not a single "Creative sux! Apple rulz!!!!"???? Amazing!
Godsmurf @ Aug 9th 2007 11:03AM
Can Creative players be plugged into a USB port and accessed like an external drive nowadays? I once saw a friend having to install some stupid program just to transfer mp3's between his player and a PC and have shunned Creative players ever since, but perhaps this has improved meanwhile?
reccerosama @ Aug 9th 2007 3:44PM
but can it play doom?
Creative ZVM Pwns @ Aug 12th 2007 12:41PM
This is definitely not the first Creative product to have built in speakers. Zen Vision:W anyone? And, Godsmurf, yes. In fact, I'm doing it with my Zen Vision:M right now. You can drag and drop with Creative products just like any other.
