First shots of the Cowon iAudio X7?
We'd heard that Cowon was planning to ship a 40- and 80GB iAudio X7 in September, but these supposed product shots that just surfaced at DAPreview are the first tangible evidence we've seen of the device. Based on what we know they look pretty legit, but our expertise on Photoshop fakery can only take us so far.

I WANT MY X7! I WANT MY X7! I WANT MY X777!!!!.......
Seriously though, it better have more tactile buttons than just volume and come in a 100-120GB size (the drives do exist after all)

Oh god, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HAVE AN OPTICAL OUT! I BEG OF YOU COWON!
Also, GIVE IT A CLEAN LINE OUT! MAKE IT HAVE A BETTER LINE OUT THAN THE iMod!!!!!!
I. Can't. Wait.

Agreed. SQ is of paramount importance to a device made by a company with a reputation like Cowon. I'd really like it if they put in a quality opamp driven amp circuit to drive high impedance cans like Beyers. Even my Senn HD-595s sound a little thin through the X5 and more so out of anything else. That would put the X7 in the league of those $500 30-gig Kenwood players at a much lower price point. It won't happen but one can only dream...

You should just get an amp...
Honestly, I'd rather see a device with an ok headphone out, a digital/optical out, and a clean line out. The X5's line out is really good, but from what I've heard, the iMod's is better. But I really, really hate iPods, and I don't want to buy a $200 cable...
Currently I have an X5 going to a Qables Silvercab line out dock, going to a Ray Samuels Audio "The Tomahawk" amp, which I use to drive Shure E4C's (and soon, LiveWire custom IEM's).

I have a Meier Audio Corda Headfive as my desktop amp, but I don't have the room (or cash) for a portable amp. Plus, I'm still saving up for a DAC.

I already have a Corda Headfive as my desktop amp and don't have the room (or cash) for a portable unit. All I ask is something better than a direct connection to the sound chip like in the X5.
Plus, I really need to save up for that DAC...

Cowon really is the god of all PMPs.
Randavance @ Aug 10th 2007 3:28AM
I agree 100%. I have an iAudio M5 and I'm deeply in love with it. I had to purchase expencive HD headphones just for it. I haven't really tested much of Cowons PMPs since the X5 which my sister purchased after using my M5, out of what I could tell, it had really lackluster video playback support, I hope they've improved since then. Even if they haven't, it's still worth getting for the sake of having an 80 gig Cowon audio player.

WOAH!! that's one sexy device.
JJ @ Aug 10th 2007 1:39AM
I agree wholeheartedly. That device just oozes sex appeal right there.

Looks cool, if it were real. It reeks of photoshop!
Firebird @ Aug 10th 2007 1:02AM
Well they arnt photographs. Hopefully its a real rendering though. Pretty slick piece of kit if it pans out.

Take a closer look at the larger dapreview picture, the "COWON" logo is literally a part of the LCD itself...
Call it what you will, pork CHOPS anyone?
Evan @ Aug 10th 2007 3:03AM
Oh. My. God. Sexy!
If this is a mockup and a total fake, I'm going to send this picture to Cowon.
They will make this mockup a reality right after they stop drooling.
Logboy @ Aug 10th 2007 3:32AM
What nonsense. Its a rendered image. We're (U.S.)still waiting for the Mythical A3 and the Q5. Cowon America needs to sharply get a clue.

Man this looks good. I like Archos and Cowon better than iPods even (I'm not the only one apparently lol). So far I like this one from Cowon:
