Newman's janky Windows CE PMP does it all
Newman's been known to crank out a few less than beautiful devices in its time, but the interestingly styled vx1000 certainly ups the ante. This handheld conglomerate manages to wear an awful lot of hats, as it features a built-in media player, four-inch 480 x 272 widescreen panel, an image / text viewer, FM radio, WiFi, gaming functions, and Windows CE at the helm. Of course, we'd be sure to give this thing a whirl before confidently snapping up such a chintzy looking piece, but those willing to take the risk can pick one up in China for 1,999CNY ($264).

yes, but can it play doom?
Hello...Newman.
(hey, somebody was gonna)
Is that windows 95?
That is most definitely XP. Check out the tray design, start button design, and a lot of tray icons.
more likely a winxp skin since the title clearly denotes this thing running WinCE.
As I commented in in the Nani article:

WinCE actually does look like that. I wonder how many folks actually remember "embedded Windows" before WinMobile? Maybe I'm just old. 8-)
I do! I'm still using my Handheld PCs and my Palm-size PCs. I don't get this new fangled optimized for one-handed use business. Give me a start button any time! ;-)
Must be coming with a pirated version of windows for that price
Huh? WinCE doesn't cost that much:

Also see:

for a run-down on the difference between WinMobile (what most folks seem to be familiar with) and WinCE.
exactly, I loved my Compaq C140 Wince 1.1 handheld computer... 2 aa batteries and a couple days of instant on use.... nice low power but readable monochrome screen and a real qwerty keyboard!
Well, it could just be a repackaged PSP with custom OS and FM radio pushed in.
To pull something like this off at that price, manjor props to Newman.
China's pushing things forward with the consumers needs squarely in their crosshairs. The world should be thankful that these proactive companies exist.
4" screen at 480x272? Man that's all sorts of ugly.
know of any that are around 200 bucks that are better?
Where can i get one of these, i cant find it anywhere?
No TV?
Ya seriously, where can I get one. I cant find any trace of an online store that sells one.
