We're not going to mince words -- this post goes out to everybody in the audience that wanted a little closer look at the Xbox 360 Halo 3 Special Edition console due out next month. Enjoy the eye candy!
I think this console is ugly. Don't get me wrong I LOVE HALO, and Xbox 360 is my system, but this one just doesn't do it for me.
If you are looking for aesthetics, features and less red rings, get an Elite.
Thankfully my 360 Premium RROD'd and I was able to use my store extended warranty to get a brand new elite, paying a $0 difference since it just price dropped.
like the graphics, hate the console. if you can buy the controller seperate, that one kicks the hell out of the cheesy looking Halo 3 ones covered in graphics, and i'll def get one.
Quite impressive details, I can see a lot of Halo diehard fans picking one of these up. Especially those that are still playing H2 on their xbox's right now.
I still want to know, what happens if/when these special edition consoles go bad and need to be repaired/replaced under warranty. Surely Microsoft wouldnt just do their normal routine and send out a standard console that was refurbished. Would they make the customer wait for their original console to be repaired?
This thing is fugly but seemed like a good deal when HDMI was not found on the premiums but now with only the play & charge extra kit thrown in for 50$ more I don't think it's worth it.
the console looks pretty cool, and would be welcome if it blended nicely into my home theater setup. Unfortunately, it would match any of my other components, and as soon as you add any of the existing white peripherals to it is gonna go fugly real fast.
that MC figure is holding my most beloved weapon in all Halo games thus far... The Shotgun. The only weapon I want whenever I see the Flood. I wont be getting the Halo 3 360... Mainly because MS aren't releasing it in Europe... But I don't mind so long as Microsoft lowers the 360 price in Europe as they've done in America.
Looks great, I wonder if it still destroys game discs like the other 360s! If they would put a drive bay that would mount a disc properly I would buy it in an instant, save me from so many trips to walmart for replacments.
I find it a bit odd that high res pictures of the Halo 3 360 come out the day when the IRIS ARG opens a Server which we're not given any clues thus far how to open. Engadget, was there any textual information with these pics?
I never liked Halo, since I don't like space-firstperson-shooters. If I was to play a fps I would want a game like far cry of battlefield where you had something that is closer to real world.
Not to mention I dont like xbox 360 just because its loud and not that exciting. Not that I own anything else than the first generation xbox.
But I just love the color scheme of this one. Taste is a funny thing.
well to my understanding, post july 2007 manufactured 360's contain the falcon chipset
i'd check the information and my sources but the xbox has been fine after 10 straight hours of ghost recon, only getting pretty warm to the touch in the back
although i wouldn't know if the stability is due to the new heatsink or the chipset, i'm not one to open up my precious just yet to check.
after that i put on the intercooler [which btw is flippin loud] and it hasn't melted it just yet *note the LE hard drive has HALO 3 printed on it, not 20 GB like the white one, but it's still 20gb
i took off the intercooler and now after taking up a couple days of school, it's still goin strong
i saw a report on an xbox being made around the same time as mine, but still got the rrod very quickly
i checked out the picture and it didn't have an hdmi port in a previous post online i read that only the 360's with hdmi ports will be harnessing the falcon [initially at least]
Bought the Halo 3 Xbox 360 on Saturday, 29 September... Got the RROD on Monday, 1 October after only 2 days. Very disappointed to say the least... either I was extremely unlucky or they haven't fixed the problem on this version of the Xbox.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
So why is it that this thing looks a different shade of green every time they release press pictures?
as pictured here, it doesn't look half bad.
previously, the pictures have made it look baby-shit-green.
still a damn shame they didn't bundle a wireless mic or include a bigger HDD.
First the brown zoooon, now the puke box 360. Good thing MS is innovative and has a good sense of fashion huh?
Admittedly, the detail on it does look pretty cool, even if the colour scheme isn't brilliant.

I hope you're both happy now.
Will we get this in uk? cos i want one!

Europe is not getting the Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360 console.

Hmmmmmmmm a warning sign next to ring of death.......wonder what the warning is.
Look very impressive

If this thing has the new HDMI port then I need to get a job starting today. Anyone hiring?
Hmmm how can we sell a few Xbox 360s? I know! We'll make it diarrhea color and write Halo 3 on it! People like diarrhea right?
I wonder, are the smoke stains painted on? Or are they from heavy use? XD

It'll go nicely with my camo duvet cover I have in my bedroom, I think I'll ask Santa to get me one for christmas.
It looks like poop. Just get the new, HDMI-enable Premium.
If this includes The Game and the 120gb hardrive then I'll definatly be buying one.
Does anybody know how long this thing will be out in the market selling?
Will it only be available on September 16?
My question is how long is this system going to be out?
i just got the halo edition xbox
manufactured 2007-08-11
it's got the falcon chipset.
Fred how do you know that yours has the Falcon chipset? Did you open it up? If so please post a picture
