AT&T having wireless data issues today?

We're getting reports that AT&T customers have gone without their precious bits and bytes for at least part of the day today. It's unclear what the problem is or how widespread it may be, but it seems that folks in a number of metropolitan areas are unable to connect or are suffering with unusually slow data rates. Anyone out there notice anything fishy?[Thanks, Michael K.]
Works fine for me in Bakersfield, CA.
Sure have. My Crackberry said "No Data Connection" I just powered off my phone and back on. That solved the problem (for me at least).
Yes, I'm having problems. I'm up in Northern VA (DC area)and
I've had no Edge connection for a couple hours now.
AT&T should give some kind of credit for those who have lost service.
Its working for me now - but its much slower than normal.
yes but no, most likely somewhere in your contract is the line "service not guaranteed."
Which means no credits for you...
3G died on my N75 just outside of NYC
i am near detroit and today so far was good, but the last few days i have been unable to maintain EDGE on my curve. i would see edge if i was lucky and most of the time it was GPRS and GSM...during which i cannot browse the web, but my email and messenger worked. so far att's network compared to the verizon 700p i switched from has been complete shit.

"Data Connection Refused" all around our company in Irving, TX. It's all better now, but we had breathing problems for a few minutes.

Slightly lower performance in DC on my iPhone, but nothing I'd notice anyways because unless I'm on 4 or 5 bars (and im either on the metro where theres no access, driving where theres usually 3 bars or im not paying attention, or im on wifi), I don't notice it anyways since its pretty slow in any event.
Data Connection Refused on Blackberry in metro Atlanta today. Power cycle fixes the problem temporarily, but service is still extremely slow.
So your saying there are points in time when att doesn't suck?

My iPhone is not getting data. Also just got an e-mail from our IT department that Blackberries are experiencing data loss today.

muncie (45min north of indy) is down now too. my iphone is down but the blackberry works intermittently.
Working ok for me in Dallas, but I haven't done anything but check Gmail.

phoenix was down for a while this morning. i was pissed off competely cuz i have nothing but apple products and not one of them would connect to the internet. my brand new airport extreme would not connect to the internet so i could use my macbook pro and my damn iphone wouldnt work on wifi or edge and i have to pay tuition today.
I called and got the cell phones for myself and my husband and that was on the 10th of September the phone numbers we have but not the phones, the customer service rep told me to expect them on the next business day for they would send them out on Fed Ex sofar no phones so my question is should I go to another provider? or just wait, my home number is 314-830-2139 and the cell numbers given are 779-5041 and 779-5241 area code 314, sshe also said she would e-mail the tracking numbers. Phew, i thought all that modding on my iphone killed my EDGE.
Off and on in Tampa FL. Effecting both my iPhone and others Blackberries.
Everything is cool over in Houston...and Galveston. :)

I'm in Charlotte, NC and I'm having horrible issues with voice calls. I called AT&T and the rep told me that nothing was posted about voice issues on his system, but then said the "the entire southeast is showing yellow instead of green for Data". This is probably related to the article.

Minneapolis, MN had lots of signal (even with the 'E' on the iPhone), but no EDGE around the noon hour central time. Doesn't appear to work still at 2:00 PM central time.
Bethlehem, PA - More a suburban than metropolitan area. Shiny iPhone told me earlier today that it "[Could] not activate EDGE". Edge network seems to be back up and running for now.

Yah iam in Rockland County, NY and when I go to my mail account, it would say that there is no connecttion to the network.
HSDPA on my Treo 750 in Tucson, AZ is reporting 616kbps, which is about normal for me. So no issues in southern AZ it seems.

Yep, my iPhone couldn't connect about an hour ago here in Bartlesville, OK. I had an E icon but Safari would state "Unable to connect to Edge network." Seems to be ok now.

EDGE just dropped dead on my Blackberry, and lost HSDPA on my data card. In Jersey City opposite downtown Manhattan.

In my area, Huntsville AL., there isn't any 3G only edge. My phone will not even connect. It just says connection failure. Although my phone just switched to saying AT&T instead of Cingular.

iPhone has had no Edge network here in Southern Maryland (south east of Wash DC)despite blue "E" icon showing otherwise...since at least, oh, 11am EDT or so. Funny I called ATT around 1:30 today...of COURSE...they new nothing about it...I told her that it was probably down but she just didn't know it yet. I didn't convince her.
Phone service was fine though. Five bars.
But, frankly, was getting concerned...especially after experiencing an odd continuous tone while web surfing that wouldn't shut off until I cycled power on the phone Saturday while in Canada...
Yeah my Cingular 8525 has been acting up all day. It actually said i had 99,999 new text messages and then the network just dropped until I did a reboot.
3G data is working fine in the Boston area.
prior to iphone ~ would a service disruption ~ not a service outage as per-crackberry ~ from a north american wireless provider would merit a news story ?
Hopefully so. Providing uninterrupted data/voice services via mobile devices is the future of biz/gov.

For most people, this might not be that big of deal... but for those of us who have business processes running across the country on mobile networks, it is helpful to know when parts of them go down.

Glad I'm not the only one. I live in Tyler, TX, which is between Dallas and Shreveport. I had "Data connection refused" for an hour or two, but it's working now.
"Data Connection Refused" for all my blackberry users! Went out at around 9:30 AM but was restored after about an hour. Think ATT will credit my account for the downtime? Me neither!
All works well on my ATT 8525 here in Oakland, CA. Where is my WM6 upgrade?
Doesn't work for me in Essex County New Jersey.
It appears XO communications who owns some of ATnT's lines for business landline internet have a broken OC15/18 line. Not sure the exact specs on whats broken or for how long, but a very large number of businesses in the south western US have no voice or data.
Issues in San Diego. Woke up and blackjack time was wrong, after power cycle time fixed but auto email syncs not completing.
No problem here in Cambridge, MA (outside Boston). I've got normal speed 3G on my N75 (which is to say, UMTS but no HSDPA).
Can't connect to EDGE network in Studio City, CA. Using my iPhone.
EDGE may be a bit slower here in CT, but it still seems to be working.
Got their paper bill and had to cut service to save some $$$ ?

My GPRS/EDGE connection was down here in Mobile, Alabama earlier today.
Rebooting my 8525 didn't help. It eventually cleared up about an hour ago.
All is good this afternoon in LI, NN and that is on BBs, iPhones, and V3i.
I work at a RadioShack in Oklahoma and my ATT rep told me that the past couple of days the have been doing tower upgrades around here. Perhaps ATT is upgrading the towers in other areas as well.
I am in Portland OR and my crackberry was down for about 30min, so was one of my co-workers

Jeesh Louise ladies and gents. Have you forgotten that Cingular (new ATT) has massive network upgrades going down this summer/fall.
I have noticed my data connection these past couple weeks have bounced between the normal Edge network and the upcoming 3G network.

I called them around 2:30 for an unrelated issue. Noticing I had no data service, I asked about that. The customer service rep indicated that the service was down unexpectantly and it would be offline for about 3 hours.
Good in Little Rock (at the moment) had a couple of EDGE activation issues earlier on iPhone.
I've had intermittent issues on Edge all day.
Spokane, WA iPhone and CU500 both seem to be fine.
Bell Internet here at work in southern Ontario Canada is slow as all hell. For hours now...
Baltimore, MD - Couldn't connect for several hours during midday, around 1-3pm. No EDGE service on my iPhone.
