Logitech's V470 Bluetooth mouse landing in September
For those of you waiting on a totally plain-Jane, middle of the road, wireless laser mouse, perhaps you should turn your gaze to the Logitech V470; the shiny blue mouse of your dreams. Forgoing the typical USB dongle, the V470 links up via Bluetooth 1.2, thus avoiding unsightly protrusions from your PC, and conserving valuable desktop space -- which you'll need when utilizing the mouse's elegantly named "Side-to-Side Scrolling Plus Zoom," which apparently lets you scroll... and, uh, zoom. The V470 will be available in September with a price tag of $49.99.

I like it. I'm going to wait for the reviews to make sure it doesn't suck, like many BT mice, but it sure looks good.
Steve Guntrip @ Aug 14th 2007 10:33AM
I have a BT Intellimouse; it is good.
Mark @ Aug 14th 2007 10:33AM
I've got a Logitech wireless mouse with the side to side scroll and zoom and it does neither.
SHoCK @ Aug 14th 2007 10:36AM
I am guessing that, like other wireless mice, it's no good for gaming...
ChuWei @ Aug 14th 2007 11:20AM
Probably because you didnt install the software that came with it?
Joel @ Aug 14th 2007 12:49PM
ooooo, whats that I hear sizzling? oh you just got burned
unless you're like me who can't install logitech's software because they only write it for the toshiba bluetooth stack and my laptop uses the Microsoft bluetooth stack.
wickedpheonix @ Aug 14th 2007 10:48AM
would've been nice if they had included that new hyperscroll wheel or whatever its called that's on the MX and VX revolution and will be on the G9, every mouse should have that...
otherwise I doubt it'll suck for basic usage and such, logitech makes high quality products in my experience but I haven't tried any of their BT products yet...
Kevlar @ Aug 14th 2007 10:55AM
Mine. Period.
I have used some other Bluetooth mice, and they are no problem for gaming, at least the ones that I've tried. I've been using a good ol' MX510, and have been looking for a wireless equivalent for a while. I like the ergonomics of the MX510, and rarely use the other buttons, but everything I've looked at was either too expensive, with too many features I'd never use, or a pint-sized laptop travel mouse that would simply destroy my large hands with prolonged use.
Good to see someone has the good sense to make a no-frills Bluetooth mouse of a traditional size, at a reasonable price.

beautiful!

Isn't this an update to the Logitech V270?

" Forgoing the typical USB dongle, the V470 links up via Bluetooth 1.2, thus avoiding unsightly protrusions from your PC,...."
uh.. if you dont already have bluetooth on your pc, wont you need a dongle anyway???? (love that word!! "my dongle hurts!!"... hey baby, wanna see my dongle?"... HA!!)
Rufo Sanchez @ Aug 14th 2007 12:14PM
I have the V270 (optical predecessor), and while I rather like it, the optical screws up on some tables and whatnot. Since this is laser, I'm sold.
Frankenstein Black @ Aug 14th 2007 12:16PM
Hum! Wonder if this is a PS3 recognized device? Anyone know?
Jeebus @ Aug 14th 2007 12:22PM
PS3 will most certainly recognize this.
We need a really good BT mouse for UT3.
Galley @ Aug 14th 2007 12:18PM
Back and Forward buttons? Yeah, I didn't think so.
funkright @ Aug 14th 2007 12:46PM
all I want is a full featured good quality bluetooth mouse that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.. anyone know of one?! TIA ;-)
Dan @ Aug 14th 2007 1:08PM
If it ain't vertical, it's barf-alicious! Wake up, Logitech. I know, that Ferrari upholstery makes it hard to think about anything else...but try.

My kingdom for a bluetooth VX Revolution.
Jason Stewart @ Aug 14th 2007 2:17PM
Exactly! This new mouse is plain and fugly. I LOVE the VX Notebook. If it supported Bluetooth, I would be in heaven!
Liet @ Aug 14th 2007 3:04PM
Its about time for Logitech to release a new bluetooth mouse. I love my v450 but since I changed to Mac I really wanted a bluetooth option to get rid of my USB dongle and have more options for my USB ports
steve.stewart22 @ Aug 14th 2007 4:08PM
It certainly is about time Logitech integrated Bluetooth with a laser mouse! Can't say I'd use the side-to-side scrolling though. I bought a laptop with BT specifically so I wouldn't need an adapter for a wireless mouse.
I've been using the V270 for about a year and a half, and it's an excellent mouse. It is (as Rufo said) squirrely on some surfaces. It would be much more worthwhile if they would throw in back/forward buttons (like in my MX1000) to use on the Net.
XSportSeeker @ Aug 14th 2007 5:16PM
I have 2 bluetooth mice.
An Acer one which came with my laptop (Ferrari), and a Logitech one which came with my diNovo keyboard, dubbed MX900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse.
The only difference to the new one on this article, it seems, is design and Laser.
I must warn all of you who are willing to buy this mouse: Unless Logitech is bringing something completely revolutionary (like support for a new Bluetooth revision), don't buy it.
Bluetooth response time is awful, you can't do fps gaming with it.
I'm using a cheap-ass USB optical mouse right now. I had a MX518, but right click button stopped working... I'd still recommend it though, over bluetooth mice... and probably over any other mouse around.
Logitech products are really nice, but the limitation here is Bluetooth. Could still work fine for non-gaming purposes, but even for that I couldn't use them.
Ryan @ Aug 15th 2007 12:32AM
Good but why doesn't it have more buttons!??!?! I need a Bluetooth mouse that has as many buttons as my current mx500, I would get the MX Revolution but unfortunately I have the Logitech z5400 speakers and they interfere with EVERY logitech Mouse that uses RF! Grr...
Robert Michaelson @ Aug 18th 2007 9:34AM
I bought this mouse SPECIFICALLY because I own a Sony Vaio VGN-C190G notebook which has something called the "Toshiba Bluetooth Stack" and only two USB ports, both of which are very busy. When I installed the Logitech software, I got an error message that my bluetooth stack was not supported. Really ticked me off. I have a Belkin bluetooth dongle for my desktop, but why would I want to use this when I can just use a regular USB mouse, and when the Belkin dongle is not supported under all the operating systems I use? There is no mention that the mouse requires some special kind of bluetooth software under the product description! I feel SUCKERED!
lpcr @ Nov 21st 2007 12:04PM
Robert,
Does your integrated bluetooth work? I have a C190G with the same "Toshiba Bluetooth Stack" but it doesn seem to work at all...
navstar @ Sep 12th 2007 8:22PM
Bluetooth 1.2?!? Bluetooth 2.0 FTW!!!!1
Shelley "The Machine" Levine @ Sep 18th 2007 2:54AM
Laser or not, it's a Fisher Price "My First Bluetooth Mouse".
Workaround: if you don't use side to side scrolling, using the downloadable Logitech Control Center, you should be able to program those "clicks" for forward / backward, etc.

it's real pathetic that manufacturers can't provide more bluetooth mouse options. iam sodi ssapo intedover a vail ableopti ons.
