She's here and
right on schedule. Meet
Victoria, Sony Ericsson's latest candybar to wear the
Cyber-shot crown. Officially unveiled as the K770, the 14-mm thin cameraphone features a 3.2 megapixel, autofocus camera with LED photo light, and 1.9-inch QVGA display just like we heard. It ships with a 256MB M2 card and goes tri-band GSM with 2100MHz UMTS 3G for Europe. She's expected sometime around Q4 for an undisclosed price. Check the full gallery over at
Engadget Mobile.

Spell it right. Engadget Mobile.

is this a joke? look how TINY the screen is. like a cheap mp3 player from 2004!
Jon @ Aug 14th 2007 6:31AM
I didn't know cheap MP3 players from 2004 had QVGA displays...
Erik @ Aug 14th 2007 6:38AM
Sony-Ericsson always have small screens. It's illegal in Sweden to have large screens, something about not getting your vision impaired whilst squinting to read on a nice big screen.

At least the battery life will be decent, as opposed to the now common 2.5+ inch screens that drain the battery in one day.

I really like it.
Its like the K800i Brown version, but in a smaller case. Looks great, if it has the same camera as the K800i, and a good price, SE have a winner.

i wonder if victoria speaks.... on my macbook she tells me the time once an hour, in her sexy voice of course. (its six o' Clock!)
.. love the name.

"...LED photo light..."
If only they'd kept the real flash from the k800 then it'd be a very attractive phone.
Tony @ Aug 14th 2007 9:41AM
I don't know, I rather like the LED light myself (I'm still on a k750i), very, very useful as a torch!
Of course, xenon flash would takes better night time pics down at the pub I imagine. Wish you could get best of both worlds!
Xavier Gill @ Aug 14th 2007 7:28AM
Looks great but please dont add an integrated speaker! It just adds unnecessary size, weight, cost and ugly
Xavier Gill @ Aug 14th 2007 7:29AM
oops wrong post!
drew @ Aug 14th 2007 7:47AM
Well at least it isn't Quadband! Looks like Sony Ericsson's continuing avoidance of the North American market has saved us from this ugly little pig!
Samo @ Aug 14th 2007 8:22AM
FYI, SE phones are doing nicely here in the UK... Guys tend to like the candybar form factor, and the tech the put inside is nice as well (although it's starting to be the same-ish... 3.2MP cam again?)
I personally use a SE phone and plan to get another one when I can upgrade, or the Nokia N95 (I'm a gadget freak, which may explain why I'm here all the time... -.-')
PG @ Aug 14th 2007 9:19AM
When will this tri-band nonsense stop???
Crass @ Aug 14th 2007 8:49AM
Is it just me, or is this just a skinny K800i with a new case?
I'm waiting for the K850i instead. Now that's an upgrade.
Tony @ Aug 14th 2007 9:44AM
Ohh, glad you mentioned that, might have to look at getting one myself!

PureChinoy @ Aug 16th 2007 2:32PM
exactly...just like the K800 but not as good (smaller internal memory, no xenon flash, no infared)
the K850 will be the one to get. 5mp camera (with no sliding cover) no joystick plus it will be quadband (finally!!!)
Al @ Aug 14th 2007 11:24AM
Will SE hop on the micro USB bandwagon by 2009?
Turtle @ Aug 14th 2007 12:22PM
Would somebody tell Sony to PLEASE get rid of that crappy power connector already! Nice, big flat brass pads right where your sweat will corrode them most rapidly. Until they ditch that thing I won't be even looking at a Sony phone. You can NEVER keep those cheezy press-fit power connectors clean and they break if you sneeze at them. What's wrong with Mini-USB, huh? Seems to work great for HTC and Moto...

Check out this lil demo for the SonyEricsson K850i. Better if you ask me.
