Verizon intros Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U EV-DO Rev A USB modem
BroadbandAccess customers, meet Sierra Wireless' AirCard 595U EV-DO Rev A USB modem, which is (almost) finally available to you through Verizon Wireless. Designed for use with your USB port, this EV-DO Rev A modem can also be connected through the included docking cradle, and even comes bundled with VZAccess Manager software. Additionally, the device boasts an internal, removable battery to "ensure there is always enough power support to handle peak or fringe area transmission requirements," and should be available for those interested on August 30th for $179.99 -- after you mail back a pesky rebate and sign your name to a two-year agreement, that is.

The 595U devices actually have a cradle with an extended USB cable, so you don't have to connect the 595U directly to your laptop.
These are already on sale at 3Gstore.com for less than $70 with a contract! Good deal!
VZ Access Manager software does work with OS X, although you probably won't need it.
i like the dock idea but i do wish that there was someway to make these smaller. i have the usb 720, and like a previous user stated it is so heavy that it bends the usb port. also since i live in a three computer house it was being switched around alot and started randomly disconecting after about 2 weeks of normal use. now i just have it sitting on our desktop and being broacast to the rest of the house via wifi, which strangly gives you faster speeds than just plugging it in.... but still, in the future, verizon and other companys, PLEASE make them smaller!
Verizon doesn't make aircards, so asking to make them smaller is kind of pointless. Verizon Wireless, which is the actual company you were referring to I'm sure, doesn't make them either. They simply select wireless products from various companies providing such products that meet their technological needs. Asking the company to make them smaller is definitely the right way to go, but it's not like the companies that make these are trying to make them big on purpose. If you know of a company that makes an equally good product that is smaller and just as aptly priced, Verizon Wireless would be glad to hear your suggestion.
how are you getting your novatel to power your wireless network. i cant figure out how.
I have the exact same question as helpless. So far all I get is it can't be done.
I think verizon is too late in the game, sprint has the same card and cheaper after rebates. if you sign a two year contract, you pay 59.99 for unlimited access or 79.99 with no contract.

I bought this card from Sprint and returned it. It is not "mobile" by my standards. The thing is the size of a cell phone, and the idea of lugging around a cradle is absurd. I'll stick with an expresscard, thanks.
