AMD intros Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition
While AMD still has bigger and better things in store, those looking for some more instant gratification may want to consider the company's new Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition, which now occupies the top spot of its X2 line. At 3.2GHz, this one clocks in at 200MHz faster than the previous top-end 6000+ but, according to HotHardware, little else has changed. That means it's based on AMD's current 90nm DSl SOI technology, and boasts support for a single HyperTransport link at 2.0GHz, along with 2MB of L2 cache and a 125W TDP. If that's enough of a bump for you, you should soon be able to pick one of these up for $239 (in 1000-unit PIB quantities).

I saw somewhere while googling around that someone managed to get the 6400+ to run at 4ghz running at 250fsb. If all of them are manafactured the same than this might be something worth looking into.
I was thinking of upgrading from 4200+ to the 5000+ black edition but with the results i saw the 6400+ is not a bad overclocker afterall.
hey man. i have a athlon 6400+ . ive had it for about a month. i cant get it stable past 3.4ghz someone let me know the settings to get this beast to 4.0 i have the best air cooling solution zalman 9700 :)< --(in my opinion till someone can link me a better air cooling solution) als0 have 4 gigs of ram but took two gigs out so i can over clock these first 2 without worries of a burnup. anyone who has thes 6400 beast up there let me know. i need mult x fsb and voltage settings used. thax

I agree, Deathwolf you kick ass. All of you Intel fans should just go and buy yourself a game console, you would get a better gaming experience from it lol.
Intel is made with the office professional in mind, not gamers. Word processing, multiple query tasking, multiple application generations and writing software codes are just a few examples of what I think of when I here the word Intel.
Amd on the other hand , - HARDCORE Gaming at it's finest! It is what they are made to do, and always will. Go ahead, believe the {intel hype}, I'll laugh over your dead body after I shoot you in the head with my 6400+ [Black Edition] MUAHAHAHA!
-put that in your pipes and smoke it!!
Just wondering
Im trying to overclock my AMD X2 64 6400+ black edition cpu (it runs at 3.2ghz uncoveclocked) I want to boost it up to about 3.4ghz but when I try set the frequency (200) higher it crashes, I have a huge (Zalman) cooling fan on this beast so thats definately not the problem so I'm guessing it has soemthing to do with voltage settings, whats the default voltage and what do you reccomend I increase it to or is there some other info u need?

Gotta love the fact it runs Crysis with everything on 'High' and other things like Physics on 'Very high' but I still want to squeeze some mre juice out this baby and make it go to its full potential.
