JAYS unveils miniscule q-JAYS earbuds
It's been far too long since our ears could listen to a new pair of JAYS, but the company is finally introducing a brand new set dubbed q-JAYS. Deemed the "smallest earphones on the market," these diminutive buds boast dual micro armatures, the bass-enhancing AirBooster, silicon sleeves in a variety of sizes, and a flexible cable setup to boot. Additionally, the q-JAYS arrive with a white leather case, two extension cords, a flight / stereo adapter, and seven total pairs of sleeves. The price? Just $180 -- and those in the UK can look forward to a probable release in the not-too-distant future. Click on for a couple closeups.

My Etys fit just fine and are small to boot. Maybe borderline too small.
Any dimensions on these?

I have a pair of Shure E3 IEMs and they're pretty damn small, and sound pretty nice to boot. These things are slightly ugly though, but I'd be interested in the specs for comparison. At $180 though they're definitely cheaper than Shure's SE420 dual drivers.

Shure E4Cs and Ety ER4Ps can be found for ~$180 if you look around. And I really doubt these would outshine either of those IEMs.

Those look really tiny. I wonder how durable they are.
I'm very happy with my Shure e2c. It seem like you get what you pay for. After 13 months of owner ship they are in superb working condition. Before I owned they I had to replace my ear buds almost every 2-3 months because of glitches in the cord or plug. The cord on my e2c is slightly hard and made out of a much more durable material than the common 15-30 dollar buds I used to buy.

Cue the lawsuits from people getting the rubber tips lost in their ears...now!

"Miniscule" isn't a word. The word the Engadget editors are looking for is "minuscule."
Tsk, tsk, Engadget...

Is there an editor in the house? Silicon is not silicone.
Michael Geary @ Aug 21st 2007 9:46PM
Don't worry, they only use a miniscule amount of silicon.
Vinay @ Aug 22nd 2007 12:02AM
Silicon is an semi-metallic element. Silicone is a kind of rubber.

Believe me you have to see the q-JAYS to appriceate their size. And they sound nice to boot! I have a demo pair and the Ety ER4P/S as well. The q-JAYS litterally hide in your outer ear, maybe protruding 1-2 mm (no not cm), only. Compare that to the ER4 which has almost its full length (apart from the stem in your ear)sticking out of your ear. Not to mention the Triple.Fi:s (though I love them)... ;P
