Ha, so much for standing up to the boss-man. Michael's latest post now says that, "I drank the Kool Aid" blah blah blah "so I think I might be back on to do Transformers 2!" Whatever, wuss.
THE KOOL AID HE IS TALKING ABOUT IS THE BLU-RAY KOOL-AID.
He is now admiting that he was fooled by the 3 blu-ray owners [*cough* execs] when he made his initial posting and has now rescinded that original tantrum.
Reading comprehension FTW.. Shame on Engadget for twisting that.
Yeah, fall back in line like a little bi*** Michael. When the boss talks you listen. He got all fiesty for a second and then the boss smacked him back into reality.
Given the kind of money he gets for directing movies(good or bad)... I can't help but say that I'd do the exact same thing. Money keeps this capitalist world spinning afterall. But I would've been a LOT more cordial about my dislike of HD DVD than his blog mentioned(bluray supporter here)... he did come off sounding like a "whiny bi'atch" and it's downright obvious the "koolaid" was nothing more than a pay increase or more rights/privilage in his directorial duties for the films.
Sadly for Bay, whatever trickle-down cash he eventually receives from the HD-DVD consortium's $150 million payout to Paramount will never transform into a pair of testicles. Megatron wins this round.
Yeah I wonder how much that cost Toshiba. What a bastard. I agree with Stuckouteast... you need to ask yourself... what would optimus do? He'd stick with blu-ray.
Hey guys, don't forget to tag Peter Moore with wuss. HAHAHA!
Yeah I wonder how much that cost Toshiba. What a bastard. I agree with Stuckouteast... you need to ask yourself... what would optimus do? He'd stick with blu-ray.

What the hell are you people babbling about? Blu-ray is sony. Sony is evil. They treat their customers like criminals and the extra DRM in Blu-ray bites.
Bay is such a piece of crap. As if anyone would give up the paycheck associated with Transformers 2 just becuase their movie launched on just *gasp* one next-gen format. STFU!
Sony is evil? HD DVD = Microsoft. On top of that MS only backs up HD DVD to ensure failure of the next physical format so their download scheme can come to fruition. Sony may not be shining examples of goodness and light, but I'll take them over MS any day. MS wants nothing more than to be your kindly Big Brother. You think Sony puts too much DRM on their media? Wait till MS gets control of the movie download empire they envision. They will wrap your PC in DRM, wallpaper your house in it, and line the folds of your grey matter in it.
Sony not a pillar of light? You need to look back on who screwed over and delayed cd format when it came out and who screwed over dvd formats to cause a lack of standard, and who was early to climb onto the DRM wagon by instituting root kits on all their computers and audio cds... dumbass. How much would it cost to put a blueray in your computer, and how much would it cost to do so with HDDVD? Think about it.
Are you even trying to compare Sony's misdeeds to MS? I stated that Sony was no paragon, but Sony is responsible for the concept of fair use being defined while MS is the inventor of the software license agreement ensuring that fair use would never exist for software users. They violate antitrust law like it is entertainment to them, even this little fiasco is a violation of those laws. Sony is a misbehaved little kid compared to MS. No their hands aren't clean, but if you want to go with the lord of hell compared to the annoying imp, go for it. Hope you like pitchforks up the bum.
As for the PC drives, if you can't find a BR competitively priced to a HD drive, you haven't looked. When you install the HD drive enjoy the wide selection of blank media available for it. BR blanks are readily available, so the drives are more than just players for the PC.
WOW. what a complete and utter douchbag...he completely made an ass of himself in less than 24hours. I mean talk about having no integrity...and if u knew you were gonna be so easily convinced against your opinion then WHY would u even make sucha big deal about it to begin with???
Whats worse is that Fox is now aggresively working on Blu-ray as if its purely out of spite...but w.e i got my HD DVD add-on for the 360 for free and im glad i did cuz its really starting to pay off :P
Oh it did. But you have to understand, that i worked in a video store and it was a pain when you have access to free rentals but all the movies u want to watch in HD are on bluray and the store begins to carry less and less HD DVDs...so you end up having to rent the DVD version...
Just a matter of being bothered by that fact. At least now, the blow has lessened as a result of this new found support :)
Any contract can be broken, bought-off, or terminated early. Bay could end his contract with Paramount, Paramount could end its with the HD-DVD forces (if there's even a contract)... a contract means very little in this day and age.
Hehe, yeah, engadget raped the iphone news for all it was worth, now a trillion hddvd/blue-ray posts, oh this is going to be fun (note the sarcrasm)...
I dont understand what is the problem!!!! I downloaded and saw Transformer and will download and see Transformer 2, so there is no need to HDDVD or BD, internet + torrent is the winning format :P long live torrent.
everyones calling him stupid.. The paramount execs probably called him and said that they wouldnt be selling bluray for like 3 months... and for him to chill the f*** out. They then explained, if you were offered 150 million dollars to hold back transformers for 3 months would u? YES!
fucking paramount better be temporarily not selling bluray... cuz if that shit is forever, FUCK U PARAMOUNT
timatl: Not really. Chris, while not doing it well, has a point.
Paramount isn't going to worry about 150 million (that's production costs on one movie), but they are going to try to shift the politics in Hollywood. So if they can throw themselves behind something that isn't controlled by another Hollywood force (Sony) in the hopes that it takes off, they might do it.
However, if BR continues to outpace HD-DVD come the holiday season, Paramount will end up running back to BR. Keep in mind that they still have their Spielberg clause - they might have something similar in there for popular movies that they want to put out on both formats.

engadget literally made my midnight reading alot better with this article of blog!
Someone probably showed him that HD-DVD can get bigger capacity now with dual layers and such... (of course probably means blu-ray can too)
Wonder how many more wusses are out there like this? Can't believe a Kool Aid can change a person's mind.
