SportsCast Wireless Football Scoreboard keeps you informed on gameday
Sure, baseball season is far from over, but here in the US of A, the onset of September directs all eyes to one sport. Thankfully, the SportsCast Wireless Football Scoreboard has made a timely entrance onto the scene, allowing NFL fans everywhere to see updates of scores across the league. The device requires no subscription to operate, and enables you to choose a "feature game" to highlight while the matches of lesser importance are shown below. Interestingly, the unit claims to receive updates every 15 minutes "via satellite signal (Ambient?)," and also sports a clock that sets itself. Sadly, the $99 wireless scoreboard won't be shipping out to pigskin fans for another month, so you'll have to keep track of the first few weeks the old fashioned way.

A complete waste of money. Anyone with a phone can get scores at the touch of a button.

I always thought that the tickers that are continuously scrolling across the screen with score updates during the game is enough... good thing we now have this to sit in our laps and take our eyes off the screen. Not to mention waste our money.

That's not the point. Remember: whoever dies with the most toys wins.

ah, yes....but which button?
and how current is the data?

In the upper right hand corner, you can read the name "Ambient". Ambient is a company that's using excess paging transmitter capacity to broadcast (at least) weather info to devices like this. We have one at my company's front desk...it gives the temp at several nearby airports and a 3-5 day forecast, updated hourly. Looks like they're now doing sports scores, too. They can localize the data because the paging transmitters cover about a 60 mile radius.

Eh, this would interest me if it had scores from the major U.S. sports and not just football. I mean unless you aren't able to watch any game on gameday there is really no reason to buy this because every game that comes on tv has a constant ticker of nfl scores.

Uh, funny that, didn't see the Pats in the Super Bowl last year.

Tmac_2003 @ Aug 24th 2007 3:54PM
Well two things...
1.) You can get scores on your phone, or radio, or computer, or really anywhere...
2.) This image looks fake because Chicago Bears are better than the Pats...
GO BEARS!

It would be great if I could program it to keep track of my Fantasy team and get updates on them.
