Coming from Rochester, NY and having a dad that has worked 25+ years in R&D at Kodak (fortunately avoiding every round of layoffs), I'm kinda obligated to cheer for the home team. Kodak still has a long way to go to convince the tech savvy that their products can make the grade foreign companies seem to be setting as the standard. I'm perplexed, however, that they would release any new mid- to hight-end products without image stabilization. I can't tell you (anything that you don't already know) how important that is, especially as digital and optical zooms become stronger and more important to consumers.
