Use a 360 controller to play games on your modded PSP
It's not the world's most complicated hack, but you know how we love a good inter-console romance: Jay over in the MaxConsole forums managed to link up a 360 controller with a modded PSP, using a little homebrew magic and the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver. The instructions aren't exactly clear, but it doesn't look like it's that hard to get going -- and you'll be way ahead of all those suckers waiting for that SIXAXIS PSP dock to finally hit. Check a video of the hack in action after the break.

Yeah?
But can it play DOOM 3?
Samsam @ Aug 28th 2007 2:27AM
No.

oh... carry a giant PSP as well as a controller the size of one as well around with you. that's... brilliant.

I always find these inter-console projects a bit humorous. But you never know what someone could come up with!

Now you can sit 30 feet from your PSP and control it. You won't be able to tell what you're doing, but you might get better control as far as the "square" button problem. Have they ever fixed that one? Anyways, this could be useful when Sony brings the slim PSP to the U.S. and you connect the PSP to your television.

Sony's ass backwards - why can't they create a PSP with TWO analog sticks (one on each side) to begin with? Adding another controller (full size) is just stupid - defeats the whole design!
SONY is just like that - they innovate but then they also CRIPPLE - stop the stupidity and release a PSP2 with a second analog stick

Why?! What purpose does this serve? Having a seperate controller defeats the object of a Playstation PORTABLE.

Well, if you need a modded PSP to use the hack anyway you'll more than likely have emulators on your PSP. If you could use the controller as a secondary, Street Fighter Turbo against your mates on the bus, etc...

The guy probably just did it to prove it's possible, nothing more or less. It's not practical, but whatever...
As for the square button(which occurred on the early Japanese versions), that was fixed years ago by a diminutive repositioning of the shape buttons to the right.

I agree, people don't do this stuff to be practical they do it to test their technical abilities, and it will someday lead to an innovation.

if you use a PSP via a TV or sit at home, playing your PSP with a controller, you are a huge nerd. get a life. play a normal console with better graphics in your home setting. and, i know, i know...there's no games for the PS3. well, buy an xbox or ps2, and dance the dance of life.
porfuse @ Aug 28th 2007 11:18AM
it will be a LOT more comfortable to play within your home... i think using this will make many games easier.
but clearly defeats the purpose of it being "portable"
sdman @ Aug 29th 2007 9:27PM
Honestly what's this world coming to when a portable uses a console's controller, and I thought the Virtual Boy was bad
