Oh come on, what the hell is that? A Nokia branded iPhone? It was presented during Nokia's GoPlay event this morning as a glimpse into the future of Nokia interface design. Oh, and it's due out next year. When pressed during the Q&A about the striking similarity to the little Cupertino device, Anssi Vanjoki -- Nokia's Executive VP & General Manager of Multimedia -- said, "If there is something good in the world then we copy with pride." Well, ok then. See what we mean after the break.
[Thanks,
James B]
Ridiculous.
at least they're proud...
Steve Jobs "We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0UjU0rtavE
Proud of what?
The low-res jpg of the idiot grinning? If youre going to copy (and wait a year to release it) at least try to improve on that which you are copying.
@Rjay - that's not really fair. All you get to see is a low rez youtube video. Maybe the Nokia will be 3G. I say good for them, let them copy it. Hopefully it will be $300 or less and easily unlocked.
It might be available unlocked! Thats a major improvement over an iPhone straight away.
Also it would most likely be available world wide.
Does it hurt yet Cupertino?
and it will most likely have better radio and overall phone function. this is where iPhone fails miserably.
It is illegal in Finland to sell phones locked to a provider, and all phones must be unlocked. So, if it is coming from Nokia, there will be no service provider lock-in. That evil job is left to T-Mobile and other companies that sell Nokia phones in the U.S. ;)
This phone looks exactly like the iPhone, I wonder if it's a spoof or fake video.
Nokia could easily make a phone that competes with the iPhone on features. For one thing, they can make the screen longer, give us a higher ppi than what the iPhone has .. give us 800px width minimally.
Now features I think they can add because they arent Apple's inventions are:
Kinetic scrolling (grab & drag)- Existed in Adobe & even Microsoft tablet products. Also, firefox has had a plugin called grab and drag for the last few years.
Accelerometer based "right side up" technology - This existed in the MyOrigo touchscreen phone (from Finland).
Multi touch on a zoomable UI - This has existed for before, though I am not sure if it existed on a phone.
Different touch gestures - Not sure if all these are owned by Apple .. if so an alternate is to use spiral to zoom instead of pinch .. maybe edge/center dragging etc.
GPS - They can add GPS
Videoconferencing - They should add easy videoconferencing (AT&T Video Share) and "show you what I am seeing" features. This is good for tech support and maybe other stuff.
Touchscreen phones were being asked for on the net by many people but the existing players refused to listen and make a decent one.
Come on, it's easy to compete with iPhone.
Hmm! not even close to iphone.. Iphone is shinier than this :D

"Different touch gestures - Not sure if all these are owned by Apple"
The very idea that someone could own, or think they own, a gesture makes me feel sick. What next, medieval archers suing Churchill for the 'V' Sign?
You have to be kidding me right? Doesn't it seem like everything Apple comes out with, some other company copies it?
I agree, this is just ridiculous.
And what if they can make it better?
Say it has HSDPA, MMS support, none of the SMS-related flaws that the iPhone has, isn't ridiculously over-priced on a contract and isn't locked to one network; then what does it matter that Apple came first?
Surely, at the end of the day, if Nokia can make an iPhone without the crap bits then that's a good thing?
When Apple does it to another companies device, these same people will rush in to tell us that it's ok because they can make it better.
So no surprise that the usual suspects, and the person who posted this story are acting so pissed. Wait until Apple does it again and you will hear a totally different tune.
Apple can copy whomever they want WITHOUT question from this site.
Like a touchscreen interface using icons on a phone? They should sue Palm... oh wait...
Seriously, everybody 'copies' everybody else. Most tech is evolutionary, not revolutionary. This isn't a knock on the iPhone, but it's worth pointing out that Apple didn't invent everything and I welcome the process. It means more competition, and more options for the end user.
@Alan Strangis
More options for consumers only applies as a reason when it is Apple that is doing it.
When other bring options other than the Apple device then it is a matter of them being rip-off artist that cant be original, and thus they must be derided and jeered.
It's all about protecting Apple.
@ Pans: In all honesty, I'm thinking of giving up going the headlines into the comment section exactly for that reason. I don't understand the cult-like worship. The ignorance of fanboys makes me WANT to hate the company that makes Final Cut Studio 2 (which I love to death).
@Pans-
The difference is that Apple doesn't create devices that copy feature for feature another company's offering. They try to improve the user experience, which doesn't necessarily mean adding more features (sometimes it even means removing features).
What it seems most people fail to acknowledge with these iPhone copies is that it is not the hardware alone that makes the iPhone successful. It's not even the software. It's Apple's end-to-end product strategy- iTunes, iTunes Music Store, iPod Dock, iPhone. The hardware on its own would fail, but when combined with convenient tools like iTunes and the Dock it makes all other copycats laughable.
Until a copycat realizes that it takes more than lookalike hardware and a cheap price, iPhone copies will be about as successful as iPod copies. And we all know how successful those have been.
@ Todd: Reduced functionality is a bonus?
Maybe on a corporate level, but not for the end user who wants to do more, and not be tied to one company for all their needs.
At least the phone will be open to any carrier and able to run third party applications without any hacking. Symbian rocks anyhow.
Errm and who did Apple copy for their iphone!? Read a bit before making silly comments - the LG phone touchscreen was out a mile before the iphone - funnily enough almost exactly the same..
If something like a touch screen exists then people are free to use it however they want.. How that rips apple off i don't know, I mean apple wasn't even first to the table with a touch screen phone.
With that said, i will always think these things are aimed at the britney spears of the world, and will always give them a miss.
Chrisphillers- I think they ripped off Linksys's iPhone. :)
@Todd
From a picture of a work-in-progress you can already tell it doesn't improve, even with Nokia constantly making the best phones out there? I'm quite sure this phone will not be tied to a single carrier on a single country, and that it will have the top mobile technology they can get on it (HSDPA/HSUPA probably), and an open OS in which you can actually install stuff without resorting to third-party installers (AKA Symbian).
Symbian rocks? Given my yearlong experience with my S60.3 N-series phone, I'd offer the humble opinion that Symbian is absolute shit.
Yeah right. Nokia had the large touch screen in concet long ago. Apple is just the first to come out with a full implimentation of it. It was even featured here.
http://www.engadget.com/2005/05/19/nokia-concept-phone-n-gage-2/
http://blog.landspurg.net/nokia-concept-phone
How soon the Apple fanboys forget. Sorry but Apple wasn't the first to come up with the idea. They were the first to market. And it's not a really innovative idea. Everyone in the industry knew this was where cellphones were headed hence Nokia's concepts.
"they" copy everything. Including the prescription medication you get at the pharmacies. Yes thats right, drywall filled prescription medication. Duplicated to look EXACTLTY the same as say your heart or cholesterol meds. Copies are often made CHEAPLY. This is where Apple will prosper. keep your "drywall" filled imitations.
do you not realize the iPhone is a copy of the LG Prada? ohdamn
Please, do you know apple rips off other artists?
http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/05/apples-little-problem-with-ripping-off-artists/
I'm not sure if you've really been paying attention over the last 20 years, but the way it's looked to me is Apple has a pretty clearly scripted production strategy. I'm guessing it goes something like this.
1: Find something that everybody uses,or should be using
2: Make it shiny, and simple enough for your one armed grandma to use.
3: Come up with ridiculous new features that will attract buyers long enough to spend the money, but not long enough to think they don't need the new version in 3 months
4:Fill with lackluster features that are easily "improved on" by the newest line of Apple branded accessories.
5: Market the hell out of it.
I'm pretty sure thats the same check list that they've used for every product they've made over the last 15 years. Show me an Apple product, and I'll show you a product that does twice as much for half the price.
Nobody copies Apple, Apple just brainwashes consumers into thinking that their product is the only true version, and all else are just copies. Case in point: how many times have you heard someone call any Mp3 player an iPod, not because the iPod is least expensive, or because it has more features, but because everyone thinks that it's the only Mp3 player on the market. And thats exactly how Steve wants it.
So kudos Nokia, anyone who thinks your phone is a rip off of the iPhone (a name which, by the way, was ripped off from Cisco) try bringing their iMac into the tub with them, doing us the favor of cleaning up the gene pool.
Is it any different with any other company? You could argue that everyone is just copying BlackBerry with RedBerries. And hey, Apple's entrance into real existence was because of the UI they took from Xerox.
--
Max ... Out!
http://www.cmyos.com - free online operating system
Yeah... it's not like Apple copied anyone like Xerox PARC with their first UI.
Oops...
Apple didn't do anything particularly revolutionary with the iPhone, what they did was make it acceptable to break established rules. Remember the touchscreen SE P800... and then the P900 which brought the keypad back? Now it's acceptable to have no keypad even if it is just as awkward as it ever was.
I don't suppose there are any indications as to what the specs are?
i'm gobs-macked, that is shameless lol
wow that's sad
I have a feeling Nokia will become like Lexus is to BMW for this product...always one generation behind.
if they really are like lexus they will have better designed, cheaper and less flaky products that can be fixed without going to a special shop. oh wait, thats EXACTLY it.
Of course, BMW's are miles away in terms of how fun to drive they are. Makes all the hassle worth it- I'm never gonna pay $40k for a Camry, I mean, ES350!
How is Nokia behind when there product will most certainly have 3G support as well as WMA support (as all their latest highend phone offerings). In fact it will probably even have a better camera and will defineately allow you to record video unlike the iPhone. My high end Nokia has the best reception of any phone I have ever used, and is extremely standards compliant in regards to MMS, SMS etc... In fact it has stored it its memory the settings of networks worldwide and by the touch of a button I can install the setting for whatever SIM i put in my unlocked phone.
Nokia is the #1 mobile phone company simply because they make the best phones and though SonyEricsson might make more hip phones and have been the first to market with a colour screens etc..., Nokia is STILL Number One!
Or vice versa. Ever hear the phrase "Why reinvent the the wheel?" It's the way business works, get used to it...
Great. Just what the industry needs.
By the time something along these lines comes out from Nokia the iPhone will have been updated - whether with software updates or a complete refresh. They'll already be behind.
Like what?
Copy and pasting? Or maybe a camera that doesn't suck?
Get that apple unstuck from your arse.
I love it - you assume I'm an 'Apple fanboy' - I actually have a Nokia N95, the supposed 'beast' with a 5mp camera etc etc.
It's shit.
How about you stick my N95 up your arse?
Why do you want him to stick your phone up his arse?
well, they are behind on any phone function. what they do well is all of the non-phone things like music player, web browsing etc. As a phone IPhone is TERRIBLE. It has a really cheap RF chipset. Call quality and reception are sub-par and more like on cheap low-end phones. Nokia makes very solid phones. I can care less if they have as pretty a UI as long as it's a solid phone.
I actually like the new N95, its has a huge screen and hopefully a faster UI.
"If there is something good in the world then we copy with pride."
LOL. Nokia should be ashamed... Instead of innovation, they copy. But they are not alone in that respect. Just look at all the iPod clones.
Jebus! Apple didn't INVENT the portable mp3 players, and they certainly didn't INVENT the smart phone (nor the smartphone with music/video playback).
They (very) arguably designed a BETTER one and certainly marketed it better.
Don't confuse the two.
"Good artists copy; great artists steal." Steve Jobs
"good artists copy, great artists steal" -Picasso*
Alan Strangis. Did I say that they invented it?
I'm just saying that it's tiering and ridiculous too see the lack of innovation in other companies. And it seems that every time Apple launching a new product other companies start to make clones. It's just ridiculous, just ridiculous. Talk about lack of innovation and creativity of their own.
Other companies are just trying to fly on the Apple hype. Good luck with that...
Name ONE product that Apple has actually innovated. You can't. None of their products was actually "new". The iPod? There were other MP3 players. iPhone? There have been touchscreen smartphones (with mp3 playing abilities) before. Mac OS? Other operating systems too... and the whole "Unix" thing already existed before they put their little shell over it too. A mouse that can right click? a little slow off the start on that one. Macbooks? Notebook computers were around before. The Apple Newton? Even that wasn't first off the line when it came to PDAs. So please, take your bullshit about "innovation" and go elsewhere. Real new inventions are exceedingly rare - where companies (like Apple) shine are when they take an existing product and improve it - in Apple's case, by making them much easier to use.
@ John:
"Name ONE product that Apple has actually innovated. You can't. None of their products was actually "new". "
Ok, The first part....Apple has actually innovated many items, if you do know what it means to innovate, it basically means to improve upon a current invention. Apple has innovated many things, such as the personal computer, the notebook pc, and the digital audio player. For the second part of that statement, i would have to agree with you, apple really has not made any new hardware that has not been around before.
"There have been touchscreen smartphones (with mp3 playing abilities) before"
Once again, I have to agree with you on this one (mainly because i own a At&t 8525) but Apple brought real innovation by making the entire phone a touch screen (a multi-touch screen at that) and making it work with iTunes seamlessly (which last time i checked was one of the most popular means of buying music online these days)
" So please, take your bulls**t about "innovation" and go elsewhere"
Sorry.....no, why dont you look at all of the articles in engadget that are tagged "apple" and specificaly look at the posts about apple pattent applications. If you dont like it, why dont you subscribe to the rss feed from engadget that excludes all apple/iPhone/both posts.
"Real new inventions are exceedingly rare - where companies (like Apple) shine are when they take an existing product and improve it - in Apple's case, by making them much easier to use."
Thats basically what apple does....make products that look good and are easy to use.
Think about what you are about to say before you post
John? Meet wikipedia: (Innovation & Invention)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innovation
Sorry T-Mags, but "innovate" doesn't mean what you think it does. Try looking it up in a dictionary.
Apple didn't "innovate" the personal computer, the notebook computer or the digital audio player. Apple may have brought new characteristics to these products but they were all existing technologies.
Apple did not "innovate" with the first "all touchscreen" phone either nor was the iPhone the first to integrate with an online music store (or even iTunes). It was first to offer multitouch, but its multitouch is the most limited implementation ever and serves almost no function in the device. Multitouch is one of the iPhone's true innovations and one of its most disappointing new features. It's nearly worthless.
Patent applications are not equal to innovation. If they were, IBM would lead the world and Dell would be just as innovative as Apple. Apple's patents are IP grabs just like everyone else's. Patents are nothing more than a high stakes game of fraud and BS. Engadget tags are nothing more than playing to what is popular.
"Think about what you are about to say before you post"
Take your own advise and be certain of the definition of words before you criticize others' usage of them.
recon @ Aug 29th 2007 2:38PM
@craig
uh, perhaps you need to look up "innovate" in the dictionary again.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=innovate&x=0&y=0
Innovate: 1. to introduce something new; make changes in anything established.
2. to introduce (something new) for or as if for the first time: to innovate a computer operating system.
3. Archaic. to alter.
definitions 1 and 3 seem to suggest exactly what T-mags said, so it does mean what he thinks it means and perhaps you really should take his advise as well as yours and "..be certain of the definition of words before you criticize others' usage of them." - craig
And before you even start...here's a link to a more reputable dictionary
http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/innovate
"Apple has innovated many things, such as the personal computer, the
notebook pc, and the digital audio player."If by 'innovate' you mean
'use a really good marketing team along with taking advantage of a
blindly dedicated user base', then I agree.
I would much rather own a nokie iphone knock off instead of having to buy anything made by apple.. Sorry fanboys, but I am just sick of apple, and refuse to buy any of their products.
I'm afraid I have to agree.
Not so much down to hating Apple, more that I would rather not be ripped off for something that can't even do the basics properly.
I'd rather have a 'good' touchscreen phone that a 'nice' one...
agreed.
Nokia has been around for years. I bet the can get it mostly right first time around.
Well, have fun waiting a year to get a clone of a phone you could have right now.
that's a stupid mentality - you would support a company like Nokia if they made a rip-off of an Apple product but you wouldnt support the originator of the product?
Guess what Apple worked hard, really hard, on the iPhone and there's no way in hell you would be able to buy this Nokia copy cat if it wasnt for Apple coming out with the iPhone to start with.
So sick of people taking sides in the tech world - when will everyone understand that we should support the companies that are moving tech forward be it from Apple, MS or Sony. If a company cares about its customers and continues to give us cool products we want to use then we should all support them.
Who wants to be stuck using year old copy cat products??
'Who wants to be stuck using year old copy cat products??'
I do.
And who says it'll be a year behind the iPhone? Remember that for most of the world, we haven't been given the opportunity to waste our money on the newest over-priced Apple product yet.
The Nokia one will, almost certainly, have better features, it should probably be cheaper and it won't be locked to one network.
Like I said before, who cares that Apple were first if their product is the inferior one?
I completely agree. I'm sick of all the apple fanboys. That being said, I'm a little disappointed in Nokia. But hey, if they can make it with the specs of the N95, US HSDPA, A2DP Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, etc. I would love them for it. And on a Symbian platform... Can we say Slingplayer?
I was going to say something about how not every device with a touchscreen should be labeled an iPhone copy.
Then I watched the video. Really, Nokia, you could at least TRY to make the interface at least a little different.
um.... like how? like, if i want the next picture, i flick to the opposite direction i want it to go? i think these touch based actions will become standardized, just like the mouse. the iphone does what the perceptive pixel board does, just on small finger sized scale, rather then a two handed wall sized scale.
Copy Apple??? The iPhone was in development for over two years (possibly longer). It came out two months ago (to the day). I'm sure two months is PLENTY of time for another headset manufacter to COPY another device as complicated as the iPhone!!! Are you crazy. Apple beat them to the market on the interface but that's about it.......
iPhone was announced and demoed in Jan'07 - that's 8 months ago. This Nokia phone will come out in 2008 so Nokia will have 1y to 1.5yrs to develop this phone - since Nokia is a phone maker I'm sure they can put a copy cat phone together faster than Apple who was developing their very firts phone and had no one to copy from.
They'll totally get sued by the looks of this.
Btw Phi, I think it's the other way around, BMW is behind Lexus. Ex - the Lexus Nav sys > iDrive.
They'll get sued left, right, and center, but a company as big as Nokia most likely has some counter-patents in their portfolio...
@ nikster
WTF? Counter patents? What exactly is a counter patent?
Is that a patent that makes another legally obtained patent null and void? Because whoever told you that that was real, is lying.
There's no such thing as a counter patent. Now, they could create their own patents and then try and claim they weren't ripping of the iPhone (we'll see, even with the relaxed laws concerning obviousness, I don't think the iPhone will have much trouble).
Dude, counter patents are patents for counters. Like what you put your toaster on.
Jesus, counter patents... that's like dropping a ball and saying the ball fell because it 'wanted' to go to the ground.
Hmm, well, have fun waiting a year for a device you could have now then.
Arg, broken reply function.
oh, i forgot i could sign up to some rediculous At&t contract, still pay premium for a phone that should be slightly discounted for the contract you are signing, and then have it locked so i get screwed when i travel.
Ill wait..
I don't mind waiting.
You're all kidding......Right? Look, this is the beginning of an amazing trend that I hope will continue. Apple is not about being the only guys on the block. They are all about being the trail blazing inovators of new technology. The best part is, all of us are the benificiaries of the inevitable competition between major players.
Yes, it's sad that nobody else innovates at this level, but I'll take what I can get. The iPhone is the first in a LONG line of copycat phones to come. Think about it, everytime you (myself included) see a new phone commercial touting all of the latest features, don't you think: "yeah, but it's not an iPhone". That thought process of consumers at large will drive all companies toward the iPhone model until all other current models become obsolete.
Two things:
1. I can't imagine many other useful designs that'd utilize a touchscreen into a phone without sticking to the iPhone format. I don't think Apple's scared at the moment, because they probably already have something in the works.
2. If Nokia's is similar, I'm hoping to see some great competitive pricing/features between the two. It'll help improve on the iPhone and help drive prices down faster for the average consumer.
The iphone certainly wasnt the first in the line the LG came out way before the iphone. I am not knocking apple for this just peoples ignorance! Apple marketing are a very well oiled machine.
Chrisphillers - Have you actually looked at the Prada LG phone? It is mostly touch screen, like the iPhone, but the resemblance ends there. It doesn't have multi-touch, and the interface is just as awkward and poorly laid out as most cell phones. This new Nokia appears to have copied many of the interface elements of the iPhone, including gestures.
It's kind of comical how blatant a copy the new Nokia appears to be of the iPhone, but it is to be expected. Apple shook up the cell phone market with the iPhone, and now we are beginning to see the other manufacturers respond. It's good for all of us, because we'll have more choice, and competition makes for better products.
The iPhone will continue to improve and evolve. Apple isn't sitting around waiting for the others to catch up. There are so many details to get right in a product that complex. I think Apple did an outstanding job for a 1.0 product. The 2.x and 3.x products should be even more amazing.
Yes, I know they didn't invent the tech. But as you said, they are a well oiled marketing machine. And, well that's just the point isn't it? I mean, regardless of who invented what, those who "put it out there" first and get it into the minds of the masses are the ones who get the credit. Personally I credit Apple with only one truly original thing: great design of hardware and GUI software. Other than that, they simply have a knack for spotting great new innovations in the wild (that haven't been marketed yet) buy it up, design beautiful hardware and software for it, and THEN go to work marketing it. Nobody does that better. Agreed?
All that said, regarding the original article and the hoopla surrounding it. I welcome the "copy cats" out there. It can only be a good thing.
If you look at the end, at the row of symbols, the fourth from the left looks exactly like a black and white safari symbol. come on nokia.
You mean the fouth from the right? It's the symbol Nokia has been using for their GPS-functions. Apparently another Apple fanboy can't handle the idea that a compass is quite a universal thing... soon people claim Steve Jobs invented the compass and other companies shouldn't even thonk about it. It's quite natural icon for a GPS software and has nothing to do with Safari.
Plus this propably means that this device will have a GPS, not some lame ass google maps.
jman - you DO realize, that Nokia smartphones have "Safari-based"* browsers for at least a year now, don't you??? And also ... I hope that you don't mind that the emergency exit, lift, information point and all other signs in your life look the same. You know, for the practical reason to be easier to recognise...
*(They are both actually built on the same WebKIT.)
realized i was wrong...
(plus im not an applefanboy)
tbh ive had enough of all these d**k heads chatting their iphone bulls**t. At the end of the day before the iphone came out there were many touch screen devices that looked similar from companies like htc and Lg and many others, even my sony clie looks like a f***ing iphone. I wish all the apple fan boy clowns would shut their faces. Who do you think invented multitouch? it was NOT apple! who invented touch screen mobile phones? NOT apple! Just because apple have a strong form factor and great GUI doesn't mean they don't copy or borrow ideas form other brands. It's so f***ing annoying all these sad f***kers shouting 'iclone this' 'iclone that'. juts be happy that technology is moving forward at such a fast speed and enabling us to do such great things instead of trying to get ur head up steve jobs's penny pinching closed platform, open source hating tech ass. ps. suck my plums
I smell a lawsuit from Apple. The iPhone is heavily patented so Nokia lawyers should be prepared. The interface is far too similar to Apple's for Nokia to attempt to put this product in the market without hearing from the legal eagles in Cupertino.
No you are smelling your hot air.
There is no similarities at all. Unless sliding pictures is a "feature" that Apple invented. Which I wouldn't put past some of you to claim.
all they have to do is sell it for half the price and not tied to AT&T and the iPhone is done.
I guess that's why some of you are PO'd.
Yah, tho. Remember LG? LG came with the concept earlier, even made it win a prize.
Oh, and remember HTC? Those are touch enabled devices, that also allow stylus. Try typing in a reunion, or in class, with an iPhone. The stylus could be a better option, huh? Maybe you can use paper, but it's all about having all packed up in one device.
Get over it: THE IPHONE IS A PROTOTYPE, so everyone is invited to get it better.
APPLE fanboys shutupp. Its a widescreen phone.. BIG DEAL. i dont understand why everytime a smiliar product comes out peoplem bitch about it being a copy..
WHO FREAKIN CARES. Keep ur closed system ITOY and me and every other interested consumer will have our UNLOCKED,NONCLOSED SYSTEM, USER DEFINED, REASONABLY PRICED phone that we can take anywhere and modify/UPGRADE to do ANYTHING..
SHUT UP AND PLAY WITH UR OOOH SOO COOL STATUS SYMBOL COVERFLOW..
Smart APPLE fanboys NO offense intended.
ooooo shock horror! call the f***ing OS police!
i hope nokia sells it for $300 or less
finally someone with a clue! nice one Neeko!
Get a grip Apple fanboys! The cell phone industry has been copying each other's work for years. An example of this is as recent as the Motorola Razor being copied by Samsung.
In some ways the Samsung version turned out to be a bigger success.
The iPhone is far from a perfect phone. Granted they need to be given props for their innovation. However there is a lot of improvement to be made in terms of features and cost. If Nokia can make it better, good for them.
I hope Verizons copies this, so I don't have to switcht to AT&T.
Hey Apple fanboys, this is GOOD news for you. Competition is better for consumers. This will force Apple to include features on the iPhone that SHOULD HAVE been there in the first place.
hmm and who is the Nokia copy cat phone good for?
I would rather see Nokia make something totally new and innovative not a copy cat of something we have all already seen.
Competition means that at least two companies are competing - in this case Apple is setting the bar and everyone else is trying to step up and steal some sale before Apple sets the next bar.
I guess the only way to have a good revolutionary product is to buy Apple. But the rest of you can use your MotoQ with WinMobile until the new NokiaPhone comes out - have fun
One company always has to be ahead, you mindless troll. That's what "the best" MEANS. There is always one company with the best product, and then the field of competitors trying to make better ones. Then the best phone changes, and the cycle continues. Here, you can't even claim that Apple already has the best phone, but go ahead, say that everyone is just trying to "steal their sales". I'm sure that every smartphone sale is actually apple's - they just haven't gotten around to claiming them yet.
