As it so often goes in this business, the adrenaline rush of
a good leaked image is quickly followed by the security felt from an official press release. And so it goes... meet the
8GB Nokia
N95, all
in black and all official. Feels good eh? We're still talking N95 specs -- 2.8-inch display, 5 megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS, microSD, and such -- only now with a hefty slab of hot, hot flash for all your media. Sure, slim is in but we can love a fatty too. Europe-first and ready for action in October for €560/$761.

so there is a microSD slot on top of 8 gb flash memory?
AbZ @ Aug 29th 2007 6:41AM
what does it mean by "europe only"... does this mean it won't be available in Australia?????
Jon @ Aug 29th 2007 6:44AM
It means 3G is for Europe frequency. I don't know if Australia shares the same frequency but if it does then import away.
junchao8 @ Aug 29th 2007 6:45AM
Means it probably will initially only be released in EU, if it gets popular, Nokia will probably release a US version.
Randy @ Aug 29th 2007 8:56AM
Wow! This is great. Although I liked the Original, I love this one. Again, as w/ the original, if it doesn't have US 3G, then I will not buy. Also, what version of Symbian does this beast run? I hope it's got the latest FP.
Mega @ Aug 29th 2007 6:45AM
I hear it packs a bigger battery!
AbZ @ Aug 29th 2007 6:47AM
anything word on the microSD slot???
junchao8 @ Aug 29th 2007 6:54AM
Bigger battery may actually mean no camera cover.
Top @ Aug 29th 2007 7:36AM
Aye it might not have camera cover, but so dosent N80 and i havent had any probs with it..time will tell. Anyways i'm all ready for this babe(cash waiting in bank).
guest @ Aug 29th 2007 7:39AM
the keys got smaller... did the screen get bigger?!
Top @ Aug 29th 2007 8:13AM
From 2,4 to 2,8
Top @ Aug 29th 2007 8:17AM
Sry from 2,6 to 2,8
makaveli @ Aug 29th 2007 8:32AM
according to some pictures i've seen and a draft user manual for this model it will not have functionality for a micro sd card. you are stuck with the 8gig and thats that. also the screen is 2.8" qvga which is a bigger screen size than the original n95 but maintains the same resolution of the original n95.
Rob @ Aug 29th 2007 8:37AM
So what is this? A camera? A gaming device? A Maping device? I just wonder if it makes phone call. I think Nokia makes phones, but there is no mention of it being able to make phone calls.
Jon @ Aug 29th 2007 9:12AM
There are those call/reject buttons. ;)
Fredster @ Aug 29th 2007 9:41AM
It's a multimedia computer;) Finally it's here, i've been waiting for it a couple of months now!
Raj @ Oct 18th 2007 11:20AM
Months? i've been waiting for years lol! seriously though...i have the money waiting for it in my bank! :D
Todd George @ Aug 29th 2007 10:15AM
LOL @ Screenshots... "Nokia Music Store - It Won't Be Soon"
I know its a track title, but taking it as a statement is funny.
YouFaceTheTick @ Aug 29th 2007 11:27AM
Better device than an iPhone - more features for your dollar (esp GPS) and expandable.
tissotti @ Aug 29th 2007 12:24PM
Cant wait for reviews. More than happy that i had nerves to wait for this device will have my reward soon then =)
alec @ Sep 2nd 2007 4:38PM
hasn't anyone noticed that nokia comes up with a new phone every month just so people can buy tham by selling their old phones by 99% cheaper ??!!!!! so why sell your old nokia n95 for 500$ and pay 250$ more to get almost the same phone !!!
AbZ @ Sep 3rd 2007 10:07PM
its as though nokia purposely makes 2 models of the same phone and releases the latter a few months after it first release....
Peter @ Sep 11th 2007 10:40AM
its as though nokia purposely makes 2 models of the same phone and releases the latter a few months after it first release....
r u stupid, of course Nokia does this on purpose...'as though' give your head a shake...this only makes good business sense...get our appetites up and mouths watering and then bring on the real phone...it's an old business trick...you're real dumb
Rocco @ Sep 6th 2007 9:29PM
SO CLOSE TO THE PERFECT DEVICE!! But they missed it by "that" much... give me some qwerty keys under that slider, a smidge more memory and an optional airplane charger & I'd happily pay $1,000 for this thing!!!
Peter @ Sep 17th 2007 5:25AM
Another thing,
to all you stupid putzes out there that just had to lay waste $700 big ones for the first model....shame on you! I betcha this price drops in the last Q07 or the 1st Q08....my money is on Q4 07
Raj @ Oct 18th 2007 11:26AM
Haha dude you think you're the smartest or something...but i believe the release date says Oct '07 and i've learned that Oct is in the 4th Quarter. So i think the price will stay firm till Q2 of 08 and no one can wait that long as there is going to be a touch screen series out end of next year. So by the time you get this one, its already going to be a successor. And is the best to have the best thing in your hands!
And releasing the 8Gb version was'nt a business trick. It was in comepetition to the iPhone and the removal of all the bugs/hardware defects from the old one. A way of testing it out in the market!
Have fun
Steve @ Oct 26th 2007 1:46PM
I got this phone yesterday morning... I'm the first in Chicago because the flagship store didn't even have them yet. I know a lot of people are talking about the lack of a lens cover being a downfall, however, there is a thick piece of glass already protecting the lens, which you can't see in photos. Also, it is very easy to access the camera because it is on the active standby. If anyone wants any information about this phone, feel free to email me.
Andrew @ Nov 5th 2007 2:03AM
Hey Steve, I've heard that the 8GB version comes WITHOUT the micro SD slot. Is it true???
Steve @ Nov 5th 2007 10:35AM
There is definitely NO micro sd slot, which is the biggest downfall of this phone. 8gb cards are now available for the N95-1 and soon there will be even higher amounts of memory. 8gb is plenty for me, so I'll deal just fine, but if your a memory junkie, 8gb might not be enough.
Andrew @ Nov 6th 2007 10:48PM
Does anyone know if you can have video chats through MSN Messenger (or any other IM client) with N95? It does have this nice front facing camera...
Ken Trough @ Nov 7th 2007 6:25PM
Hey Steve: I have been drooling over this phone for a while. Other than the 8GB, the slightly larger screen, the lack of a microSD slot, and the color, are there any other changes between this and the standard N95 USA version? Processor? Features? Also, critically, what is the deal on the 3G data access here in the USA? Is the 8GB version Euro only, or will it hook up to AT&T's 3G network? T-Mobiles? I'm talking about the HSDPA/WCDMA functionality specifically for highest speed data.
I want to get this for mobile video to web publishing and I don't think there is another phone with a camera or video to match this one....
Dave Coveney @ Nov 9th 2007 7:57AM
If anyone's worrying about how to save data fees with regards to mapping on the N95 (it can download the maps dynamically) I managed to get hold of a document from a phone supplier which gives steps - all at this page http://www.davesgonemental.com/reducing-nokia-n95-gprs-map-charges/
Justin @ Nov 22nd 2007 3:36PM
Steve doesn't know what he's talking about. There is a micro sd card slot on both the European N95 with 8GB internal memory and the US N95.
