Archos' 105 PMP gets photo blow-out
If you've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the sleek little Archos 105 PMP to slide your sweet music and video collection into? Well, this won't technically get you any closer to ownership, but the folks over at ArchosLounge have put together an enticing selection of photos which should have fans of the media player feeling awful excited. On the spec tip, the 105 comes in red, silver, or black, features 2GB of integrated flash memory, can play WAV, WMA, PCM, MP3, and protected WMA files, yet only plays back WMV video (or so we're hearing). No definite word on when the player is due (though last mention was September), and hushed voices on the street say it will be selling for around $80 or $90.

2GB? Come on Archos! This could've been good...

well for $80 it is good, it's more like a flash MP3 player with Video capabilities than a PMP, although it would have been nice for there to be a 4 and 8GB model as well.

Can't say I'm impressed. 2 Gigs and a design grabbed from the mid 80s?

Bet you can't beat the price (without getting it from a chinese company like Meizu)
Seriously; its very thin, has a very nice control system, and plays video. Whilst the Nano uses the clickwheel which I occasionally find to be inaccurate (it overshoots), locks you into iTunes, and is audio & pics only. Oh, and it costs 50 bucks more.
I'm sure Archos will release another version with a larger capicity soon. In the meantime, I will play with the d-click on my clix2 thank you very much.

meizu matches the price, but will likely beat it on many other levels. As long as you can get over the ipod-ish styling, the meizu is the best buy for portable music/video under $100.
Just because it's chinese doesn't mean it's crap (hey, i didn't believe it either until meizu and lenovo came along).
And what is up with all the empty space under the controls on the Archos? I'd rather it have a smaller footprint and be a bit thicker.

Let's sum up the attraction of this Archos PMP in two words: It's cheap.
Nothing more to be said.
