iriver's first Siren DAP: the DP250
Merely four months after acquiring Siren, iriver has just unveiled its first DAP under the new brand: the DP250. This pocket-friendly (and admittedly stylish) player will be available in 1GB or 2GB flavors, black or white color schemes, and include an FM tuner / transmitter, a built-in speaker, voice recording functionality, and a minuscule display to keep track of what's spinning. Additionally, you can expect around 18-hours of playtime on a single charge, and those parked in Japan can pick the 1GB edition up next week for ¥9,980 ($86) or double their capacity for ¥5,000 ($43) more.[Via AnythingButiPod]

Why do we need this when we already got an Ipod? It's like the perfect mp3 player, everything else is a copy.

I'd like to know if it has a built in USB plug (no cable to walk around with) and if it's USB Mass Storage or MTP. If it's UMS and has a USB plug then that'll make a good combo pen drive/mp3 player.

why is the 1GB double the price of the 2GB?
thetrace892 @ Sep 1st 2007 2:15PM
read carefully. keyword: more.

yeah and if you read carefully, he said, why is the 1gb(lesser of the two capacity wise) double the price of the 2gb(larger of the two capacity wise)?
Iain @ Sep 1st 2007 5:27PM
Yes Mike. And if you'd read the article slightly more carefully, you'd realise that thetrace has actually answered that question.
The 1GB model does not cost more than the 2GB model.
The 1GB model costs ¥9,980, the 2GB ¥5,000 MORE than the 1GB model - that's right, ¥9,980 + ¥5,000. Not ¥5,000 but a figure ¥5,000 greater than the price of the 1GB.
It's a little-known piece of maths called 'addition'...
Except of course that Engadget have screwed up. The 2GB model, according to the AnythingButiPod article that has been linked to (and the press release it in turn links to), costs ¥13,980 - which is ¥4,000 more than the 1GB.
It's rather depressing really, Engadget readers can't perform addition and Engadget writers can't perform subtraction...
