Logitech intros MX5500 keyboard / mouse combo

Those looking for a matching keyboard and mouse set now have yet another option from Logitech, which today busted out its new MX5500 combo. This one includes the company's existing MX Revolution laser mouse with its speedy metal scroll wheel, along with a new keyboard that boasts a built-in LCD along with the usual array of controls for music and other features. Both peripherals also rely on Bluetooth 2.0 to keep 'em untethered from your PC, and each promise to let you take full advantage of Flip 3D and other Vista-specific features (though Vista is not required). Look for this set to be available later this month for $170.

for everyone who has used the mx5000 set, I have heard that it works great in Vista. just a fyi...
the mx5000 works ok with vista not great by any means. as far as this version is concerned the mx1000 mouse is far more comfortable then the mx revolution. the keyboard is nice, but does not seem to be all that different then the mx5000. i don't think i will ever buy another bluetooth keyboard again, there is just too many issues with vista. i am slowly trying to convince myself to get a wired gaming mouse.
I have the MX5000 set and i have to say i was disappointed as well with the way it performed. First i had to get a usb extender to move the bluetooth dongle to a better place so the muse and keyboard didn't lag when in my room. And then i found that the mouse and keyboard every so often disconnect from setpoint so i lose all the extra features. The mouse does it less than the keyboard. Its LCD screen is a curse and a blessing since it shows what your playing in itunes or wmp but sometimes crashes leaving a frozen image of the track name and the progress bar on the lcd. The keyboards touch controls are crap as well...since the touch volume control doesnt put the volume to 100% with one whole movement up.
I just hope the MX5500 is better...though i hope its not just a slightly updated version of the MX5000. I have to say i have no problems with lagginess with the mx5000 bt mouse so i really hope that with the mx revolution mouse they get the keyboard perfect this time :p
I'm excited to see they are going to use the revolution in BT form! I love the mouse as is, but with it packaged with an awesome keyboard and using BT...I think it's perfect! I just hope they've worked out the BT issues that people have had with the current generation.
My question is...will this work with the Play Station 3? It'd be nice to use this as my "universal remote" for the PS3 and the HTPC.
To the people who get disconnected using the bluetooth sets, update the setpoint driver. Don't use the ones that came on the cd... you have to go to the logitech website and download the latest version. I heard that this fixes the problem
why doesnot logitech put a kinetic energy charrging device in those wireless things? atleast all that gamer activity will be used up.. case in point: seiko's kinetic energy watches.
WoW, I wanna play WoW with this xDDD
The Logitech Setpoint software is well known to cause problems when being installed and when in use. Most users learn that the keyboards work best when the setpoint software isn't installed.
Oh, Logitech keyboards don't offer all the standard keys. They have decided that the scroll lock key isn't needed. So if you currently or ever in the future plan to use a KVM switch too bad.
I love those displays on the keyboard and was probably the only reason I bought Logitech G15 keyboard however as long as there is no native software support they are just resource hogs.
