Apple killing 4GB iPhone, $299 while supplies last
It's true, Apple has no more use for the puny capacity of its 4GB iPhone, and is selling off the remaining stock at $299. Get 'em while the getting's good! Oh, and yeah, that means the Apple Store is finally back up, after an extended hiatus, so feel free to plunder your checking account with all of Apple's new wares.

Massive "told you so" from all us haters out there ;).
In other news, I just might pick me up a new iPhone.
haha...what do you guys expect?? it always cost more to be one of the first to own something. Look at the xbox 360 and PS3. Dont act surprised people...you only look foolish.
ANGRY!! Just got the phone 13 days ago!! Fortunately have until tomorrow to return and repurchace at new price...minus restocking fee...still ANGRY!!
Apple is a company like no other, and I hope people will start realizing this now. Making profit is ALWAYS the objective, not "making good products". That's only a way to make profit, and making people believe you make really good products works even better for that cause.
Too bad for you fanboys (no offense), be realistic and watch your money. Apple would've been a lot cheaper by now without you IMHO. Apple's been living on the hype. Buy something else for Christmas this time! Or just donate some money instead of spending it all for a phone/player you don't need. Think about it.
"Apple is a company like no other, and I hope people will start realizing this now. Making profit is ALWAYS the objective, not "making good products"."
Delc, that makes absolutely no sense. Business school taught me that making profit is the objective of ALL for-profit enterprise, therefore Apple is just like any other company hoping to make money.
Looks like the 4gb iPhones have sold out already, thus replacing those former Apple fanboys who claim they will "never buy another Apple product again".
Haha, its like all these people buying an iPhone expecting it to hold its resale value like a Honda or Toyota only to have it depreciate like a Hyundai. Tragic.
It goes to show how luxurious/superficial Apple products have become. "If everyone is Super than no one is."
So here’s my dilemma… Should I get an 8GB iPod Touch for $299 or a refurbished iPhone for $349? I don’t want the phone features at the moment, but I would like the email, maps, etc.
I know that you can’t use the iPhone without activating it, but I’ve also heard you can just sign up for pay as you go service and cancel it. And what about canceling your AT&T contract within 30 days (are there any hidden fees for that)?
Is it worth messing with the iPhone, or will the iPod Touch have these additional features before long? What do you guys think?
Don't forget the $25 rebate which brings the final price of the 4GB iPhone to $274 and the 8GB iPhone to $324.

This is not a good business move for Apple. It has devalued their entire iProduct line. They should not leave customers from just 2 months back feeling ripped-off by $200 and come up with some program (like free downloads, etc.)
Also it seems like 4GB was dropped because it was insufficient for the apps they intend to write and this in my book makes it a defective product in need of recall.
I encourage all iPhone owners that paid $600 or $500 to protest this move. Don't give in ...
you wouldn't have felt robbed if you were buying a product called "iPhone 1.0"
***IT IS NOT UNLOCKED***
the 4 GBs are gone. only thing available is 8 gb 399
My iPhone was a deal when I bought it in June and has been a joy to use, and now I can save even money when I purchase more as gifts. At this price, for this functionality, it is a downright steal! Thank you Apple!
arrgggg they've sold out the 4gb ones. I guess now I will wait for the refurb comes in, 199.99 woohoo!!!!
Sorry if this is a really dumb question, but someone can use the all of the phone's features that aren't the actual *phone* through WiFi, right? That said, if someone wanted to only use this product with a WiFi connection and simply go online that way, that's entirely possible, right?
The store still shows the 4GB in stock; search for it! "iphone 4gb"
Snagged one a few hours ago...
Actually, as an iphone owner, I was relieved to see that the ipod touch is pretty much a lesser iphone (sure storage issues, but 8gb is enough for me no joke). Plus the iphone is getting the mobile itunes store. I'm feeling better than ever about my iphone.
I dont feel Apple is ripping anyone off. Design/Production costs of the iPhone must have been IMMENSE, but im sure that after 1 MILLION of them are sold, those expenses were taken care of, thus allowing Apple to sell the item closer to cost, passing the savings down.
They EASILY could have kept selling the iPhone at its current price until January. But no, they brought it down so that the average iPod buyer can afford to buy an iPhone. Seems to me they are taking care of their customers pretty well. early adopters, yeah you are getting the short end, but thats what happens when you HAVE TO BE THE FIRST
I'd feel pretty bad if a good chunk of the people around here told me that the phone was way overpriced and I convinced myself I knew better only to have this happen.
I would... but luckily I was one of the people who knew the score :D
Not sure if this was posted, but i just called apple and they refunded my 200USD to my credit card over the phone, and I live in Canada. Had bought the iphone 10 days ago in buffalo
Good riddance to this old outdated model. 4GB is like soooooo two months ago!
can this 4 gig iPhone be unlocked to work on Tmobile in the UsA ?
if you bought your 4gb iphone in the last two weeks, get it it price fixed! i get discounts and mine only cost me 225!
they lowered the price so IPod Touch wouldn't cannibalize the IPhone sales.
30% drop 2 months after launch is not like Apple or any other industry. Look at produce/price refreshes. It was a very poor decision to overprice them to begin with but now they have done the thing they said they didn't want to do: Devalue the IPhone.
The whole reason they didn't allow subsidization was to keep a particular value to the IPhone. They just undid that.
Now it looks like every couple of months they'll drop prices and/or add storage. This is simply not the case. Refresh patterns on Apple products are not that quick.

I agree about Apple acting like Sony. Before you know it they'll roll out a 10gb iPhone for $100 more than the 8gb model.
I just got $150 back on my 4GB Refurb I received Saturday.
Agh. Missed the return by ONE DAY. One freaking day. I think I'm gonna cry.
they sure showed us early adopters...
if i buy off apple.com and use it in canada, can i still use the ipod features and wifi features and am i still required to sign that 2yr ipod contract?
no i dont' want an ipod touch becuase someday, there will be an "easy" unlock availiable. until that time i'll just use it as an ipod.
Where is the stereo bluetooth? Even if it is proprietary I want stereo bluetooth on the iPhone and iTouch!
Here come the 16GB iphones.
Umm, I would get one but I'm tied to Tmobile, and plus my N95 rocks my socks off!
does any1 know if they r goin to do the same instore credit for any1 that purchased the 4gig iphone? cause im feelin gyped...
