Sony's Advanced Amateur DSLR called the Alpha a700?
Anyone who's the least bit into digital photography knows that Sony is coming out with two new DSLRs -- the Flagship and Advanced Amateur models -- sometime in the future, but other than a few in the wild shots and rumored specs, we still don't know much about the mysterious duo. Info is slowing coming to light, however, with several of Sony's foreign sites now showing a flash video that clearly depicts the Advanced Amateur model branded as the a700 -- which would follow the original a100 and perhaps signal an a900 branding for the Flagship. Seems like we're getting close to an actual announcement here, so we'll keep you posted.

Wow, the competition is getting fiercer! It's not Canon/Nikon anymore. :) Well, it's still too early to tell.

Nice video. I now feel like I have all the info needed to build my own a700.
Looks like finally we have a advance amateur DSLR with a built-in infrared focus assist lamp.
makes no difference because i won't be getting rid of my investment in canon lenses any time soon :)
Whoo! Free stuff!
Looks sweet! Thanks for the link, Clafton. No need to get rid of Canon. Many would say it's the best. This is good news for the newbs tho [myself]. Can't wait to hear some offical specs on this bad boy. I think my old Minolta Lens' will work too.
Looks pretty!

wowoowowowo!!!!!
ive been looking for a dslr these days and this 1 looks cool coz i looked into the canon 40d and the nikon d4 so yeah im pretty excited about this sony coz my gadgets are mostly everything sony (and apple).
i hope this 1 wont be too heavy and expensive. and i wonder how much that lens there cost, coz my school camera doesnt have such big lens diameter.
yeah and of course i think unfortunately it will use ccd not cmos...
Is it just me or do i NEVER win anything online?
Nothing special here.
Well, I invested in the A100, but realiased that I bought "pig in the poke", and took the decision to ditch the A100, and instead invest in Canon gear (30D). Today I'm extremely satisfied with my gear, and didn't even get the strong want-2-have feeling when I reviewed the new Canon 40D...
My major issues with Sony A100 was:
* High noise on high ISO (>400 worthless)
* "Fast" lenses, are *very* expensive
* Autofocus on zeiss "fast" (1.4) lenses are in my opinion extremely slow... like "non-ultrasonic kit lens"
After changing SONY => CANON, I noticed the following:
* I'm missing remote flash triggering with the on-camera flash on my 30D...
* Anti-shake on camera works, but real IS/VR is THE thing.....
* Autofocus on many of Canon's are really *fast*...
