I bought an HP big screen microdisplay and the light engine, the most important component that is very expensive to replace, conked out after 18 months. HP has outsourced service and doesn't stand behind the product. An HP rep told me they don't test every light engine and experienced a 5% warranty claim rate on their microdisplay TVs. HP is not a consumer electronics company and doesn't appear to approach quality assurance like an experienced television manufacturer. I recommend staying away from HP TVs. HP is a printer company and a computer company, and its largest profits come from selling ink. I'd buy an HD TV from a TV manufacturer that's been in the business a long time.
