Those hoping to get to know HP's
iPAQ 600 series a bit better can start celebrating, as the folks over at
Notebooks were able to sit down with Raj Bhavani, an
iPAQ product manager, and record a brief demonstration describing its features. Notably, the built-in WiFi,
Bluetooth, HSDPA, click-wheel, three-megapixel camera, integrated GPS, and Windows Mobile 6 operating system were all highly praised, but the lackluster 320 x 240 resolution display looked to be a (critical) weak point. Nevertheless, the device does look pretty sharp (or maybe we're just suckers for all that connectivity), so be sure and click through for a look at the interview.
Come on HP. Last thing I want to carry around is a stylus to use my phone. I have enough trouble texting while walking, let alone tapping a 1/16 inch button because you didn't want to retool the UI for the phone. While I hate the iPhone, the one thing about the that should be moved across the industry for touch screen phones, is the ability to hit a button without a separate stick to tap the pin-sized buttons.
well you dont need the stylus to operate this thing as a phone.
the stylus is there to operate the PDA functionality.
Made it on the first page....
Oh look, another PDA phone that'll be obsolete by the time it releases. Oh wait, it's already obsolete. Just wait for the HTC Kaiser which is to be released in less than a month.
Nonsense - this device has everything the Kaiser has except the keyboard. If you dont need the Kaiser-type keyboard, and you make a lot of phone calls this is the ideal device.
I watched the video and was waiting for them to show me something that every other Windows Mobile device doesn't do. I'm still waiting...
Maybe I'm alone here, but I love this device. As a long time Palm user, I'm used to a stylus and would rather have it than not. The form factor is perfect for me. I'll definitely use the WiFi and the 3 megapixel camera. Right now I have a separate PDA and cellphone and I'm looking to carry around only one device. As long as data entry is reasonable (since there's no keyboard) then I may buy this depending on what I think of the Palm Centro/500 series.
Anyone have specs on the size? The only benefit of not having a keyboard is smaller size. If it's not smaller/less thick than the HTC Kaiser, why bother? The keypad click-wheel seems no different than the scroller on the side, so why bother? If this is thinner/smaller than the Kaiser, this would be a good upgrade for us HTC Magician users who want HSDPA, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and WM6.
Test
I like hp.
