New Dell mouse, XPS 420 spotted in the wild
Dell's new XPS 420 may not officially be available until October 19th, but that hasn't stopped the folks at Acrofan from scoring a few shots of it in some less-than-flattering conditions, which you can peruse by hitting up the read link below. If that's not enough to whet your appetite for all things Dell, the site also snapped some pics of a new mouse that the company will apparently soon start shipping with its systems. There's not a whole lot of details on it (at least as far as we can tell from the translation) but, as you can see above, it is a corded mouse, with a few more curves than the standard Dell fare. Look for it to start shipping sometime in the fourth quarter of this year, according to Arcofan. Once again, hit up the appropriate read link below for a few more shots.

Is it just me or does that mouse not look much different...and still looks like $2 crap?
corvusthistleknot @ Sep 6th 2007 4:37PM
Actually, other than having a split from the buttons and the main body, not having 2 extra buttons on the thumb side, and not coloring the center silver, it's exactly like the mouse (shapewise) I'm using at work from Dell.

Does it have Wifi?, Bluetooth, and nerds waiting to hack it and use it with their BeOS?,
Of-course it supports finger touch.. (:D)
ark_v2 @ Sep 6th 2007 4:46PM
Why's the hype? it's just a mouse...
StaffordshireBT @ Sep 6th 2007 4:56PM
Yeah but I bet it has a Laser....ooooh.....aahhhhh
Majortom1981 @ Sep 6th 2007 4:55PM
They arent any different from the ones that have been shipping with the optiplexes
I dont like the shape it cramps up my hand. the only good part is that the scroll wheel has the horizontal scroll now.
Majortom1981 @ Sep 6th 2007 4:55PM
Also besides the screen what is the difference between the xps 410 and this xps 420 ?
Michael "420 Friendly" Dell @ Sep 7th 2007 7:41AM
The 420 version comes with a special case, no motherboard installed; just plenty of hash inside.
Bizarroterl @ Sep 6th 2007 5:54PM
Yawn.

Slow day for news huh....
RD @ Sep 6th 2007 5:22PM
Wow, a black mouse...
Dell: Yay! Publicity!
Engadget: Oh noes!
chase @ Sep 6th 2007 5:24PM
i think engadget wanted a reason to post up the # 420 for all of us born again dutch
but that mouse looks like it has a ball and would be very well suited next to a PC running windows 95
Dell is going down the sheeter
Phil @ Sep 6th 2007 5:36PM
Err, we had this mouse in all of our new Dell's for the last three months at least. Nothing new about it.
Ben @ Sep 6th 2007 5:53PM
THAT MOUSE IS BLAZING...haha
Gadget Extremest @ Sep 7th 2007 7:43AM
No, it's smoking.
mars @ Sep 6th 2007 5:57PM
couldn't care less!
is there such a thing as a DELL fanboy? if so, email the story to him.
JP23 @ Sep 6th 2007 6:12PM
wow a new mouse!
JeffDM @ Sep 6th 2007 6:32PM
It's kind of nice looking. Not really something I would go to Dell to order though. If it's not offered at one of my usual e-tailers, then I'm not that likely to get it.
Feb30th @ Sep 6th 2007 6:39PM
Sorry, but what happened to "Week o' Dell scoops"? It supposed to be running through Saturday? It seems it stopped on Tuesday...
caitlin @ Sep 6th 2007 6:52PM
i wonder how long people are going to have to wait for that when it finally does come out. i'm guessing 5 months haha

Why this article? It's a mouse...not even wireless!
David @ Sep 6th 2007 8:05PM
I've used a Dell mouse that I don't believe is out yet and it has a similar shape. The difference is that it is Bluetooth, has a weighted palm, and fits like a glove. Quite honestly it was the nicest mouse I've ever used. I keep hoping they'll release it into the wild instead of just the corporate testing labs.
Dave @ Sep 7th 2007 7:15AM
I cannot stand the predecessor to this mouse... worst button feel I have ever felt, I hate the texture, I hate the shape, I hate the scroll wheel... Dell needs to team with M$ for pointing devices. I'd rather use my puck mouse that came with my G4 in 2000 than use those things.

If you want to talk about mice, check out the Logitech VX Nano. I just got one and it's amazing. The receiver is insanely tiny...so tiny that it makes other wireless receivers seem silly.
Fruition @ Sep 6th 2007 9:45PM
I'm trying real hard to get excited about this. I just can't. I'm a Logitech mouser, always have been, always will be.
