Sony gives kid who saved dad's life a PS3

You might have seen a story floating around earlier this month about an Oregon nine-year-old who took the wheel of his dad's big rig and steered it to safety after the father suffered a seizure and blacked out. Well, the kid, Matt Lovo, said all he wanted in return for his heroics was a new Playstation 3, and after the dad rebuffed a community effort to pitch in and buy one, Sony stepped in a donated a unit. Big ups to Sony for the generosity and to Matt for his bravery -- we hear he's planning on installing the console in the truck, so maybe the vibrations from the engine will make up for that lack of rumble.
good move i can see the headlines now "sony gives out another PS3 for good deed!" where will the line be drawn now? is sony gunna be giving out ps3's for all good deeds? I think sony should have just stood back, i feel like they just screwed themselves.

All i need to do is put my entire family in a very life threatening position, put on a supperman cape, have my friend film it, and save the day. Sony will have to give me a free PS3 i would have saved three people from "certain" death.

Pfft he isnt selfish. He's nine years old. He doesnt know the meaning of all this. The value of life isnt embeded in his brain yet I bet. and thats ok. I think the only thing he should be ashamed of is asking for a PS3, and not a 360. :)
I saved my grandma's life when she got stuck under the garage door (don't ask how) and I didn't ask for anything. That was when I was 9.
Even though I didn't ask for anything, I still got a grand piano from my parents who gave it to me to congratulate me.

Some of you are just unbelievable. The kid was asked, if he were to be given a reward, what he'd like to have and he thought it would be cool to get a PS3. How is that selfish? He was inquired and so he answered. Say you were a little 9-year-old and the press was all over you and asked "hey, for your great, heroic deed, what would you like to receive if you were to be given something for this honor?" I dare you to tell me it would be something that isn't material.

This is the mother of the boy everyone on here is calling selfish why is he selfish exactly he was asked several times buy the media what he would like for a reward what's he supposed to say he's nine yrs old you people are sick and demented picking on my son.Our family went through a tragedy we never asked for this i just thank god my son knew what to do i don't know many adults who could do that! There always has 2 b haters out there you know people wanted to donate a playstaton 3 to our family and we declined yes sony donated one and i and everyone we know thinks and knows he deserve's it Matty is far from selfish he's one of the most caring little boys i know and i thank god everyday for what he did my life and his sisters would have been over if something happened 2 those two why can't this just be a neat story instead you have to call him names what kind of person says that about a child not a very good one and i can guarentee none of you deserve a playstation 3 if you can be mean 2 a child then what else are you capable of our family never would have gotten one otherwise should he have just said no thanks to the reward then that wouldn't have been good enough haters would still say something about him.No one is ever happy i am just shocked people can say these things about a child that just shows what kind of people you are.
