We've definitely done some crazy things to
fix our gear -- we swear our Sawtooth Power Mac G4 actually ran
faster after we dumped a can of Diet Coke into it -- but we've never gone as Nepal Airlines recently did. Faced with intractable mechanical problems on one of the fleet's two 757 jets, authorities at the state-run airline apparently sacrificed two goats to the Hindu god Akash Bhairab (pictured in the airline's logo, to the right) in front of the plane, which promptly took the skies again problem-free. That's pretty much all the information anyone has, but Nepal Airlines has confirmed that "the snag in the plane has now been fixed and the aircraft has resumed its flights." We're not going to comment on anyone's religious beliefs here, but that had to have been the weirdest pilots' announcement of all time.
Nepal Airlines must keep handy more goats .
My brother is a an officer in the British army attached to a Ghurkha unit. Whilst he was learning the lingo in Nepal earlier this year he excecuted a goat by beheading it with a Kukri (boomerang shaped knife). It was over pretty fast apparently and the goat didn't suffer.
I don't believe the goat was used for technical trouble shooting purposes but did make a tasty stew.
Terrorists! Let's go spread some democracy!
Let's just hope that Virgin Airlines doesn't have any major mechanical problems.
Axxholes.... Some of the most wierdest and cruel sides of Hindu Religion. This is something that the religion itself does not prescribe, but the religion does prescribe sacrifice of such people who sacrifice others.
Oh and the goats happily went to heaven and are just planning the next Jehadi attack on such people. They will back...... in Nepal Airlines part 2
Lack of money.. may be .. or just to secure their pilots
They actually keep a selection of goats on standby. No kidding.
This is actually old news... I read this a weak ago on BBC News
But were you able to post corny comments about it on BBC News??
That's what you get when you give technology to a bunch of retards.
I wonder what does Akash Bhairab do with the goats. Anyone got any ideas?
So they sacrifice it and give it to this Hindu God...err and then?
its a great story for every one to have fun but I really dont get what it has to do with engadget? I think every blog should mind its own business...
1 Airlines ticket in Nepal Airline = $200
Snacks at the airport = $10
Cost of fixing the GE engine = $3000.
There are some problems technicians can fix - for everything else - there are sacrificing goats!
Small Point: I'm a Hindu (tho not a practicing one) and have never heard of a god called Akash Bhairab...
In India, some weird people do stuff like a "havan" prayer ceremony for the Indian cricket team (which obviously doesn't work, hehe), but Hinduism and sacrifices just don't go together. Probably a Nepal thing (blame it on the maoists, everyone does)
Solution,
A good scapegoat is nearly as welcome
as a good solution

This poster should be in the airport lounge !!!!
Ok, I have a plan Cubs fans. First we get a 747....
The goats were eating the wiring and causing the electrical problems!
That is why they were sacrificed and they sure do taste good barbequed!
